According to the World Happiness Report 2025, Finland has once again been ranked the world’s happiest country. If you’re interested in seeing what it has to offer, we have good news: There are many award options available to comfortably travel there.

We’ve found lots of award space in Finnair business class from now through spring of next year, giving you options to explore Finland’s food, culture, saunas, and nature in both warm and cold seasons.

Here is a full look at this award space to Helsinki so you can book it for yourself.

Full Details on the Finnair Award Alert

With this deal, you’ll be flying Finnair business class, which is a great way to cross the ocean. However, the best prices for using points and miles don’t come from the Finnair Plus program. Instead, book using Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan from the East Coast or American Airlines AAdvantage if you’re west of the Mississippi River.

  • Program: Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and American Airlines AAdvantage
  • Airline: Finnair
  • Class: Business
  • Routes: Chicago (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), and New York City (JFK) to Helsinki (HEL), Finland
  • Dates: July 2025 through April 2026
  • Rates: From 55,000 miles plus $18.10 per person
  • Seats: Up to 5 in business, up to 5 in economy

With multiple ways to book these awards and numerous departure cities, a tool like Seats.aero can help you compare options across a range of dates at once.

Finnair’s unique business class seats feel less like a chair and more like a pod. Thanks to their unique, no-recline setup, you can get comfortable in many ways. Don’t worry — they still offer a lie-flat position. You’ll arrive in Finland rested and ready to see all the country has to offer.

How To Book

If you’re flying from East Coast airports like JFK, you can book these awards by redeeming Alaska Airlines miles. Paying 55k miles plus $18.10 in taxes and fees is your best option.

Alaska’s Mileage Plan program charges 70k miles from the West Coast, so a better option is redeeming American Airlines miles if you’re flying from DFW or LAX. You’d pay just 57,500 miles plus $5.60 per person.

Let’s talk about how to earn these miles.

Earning American Airlines miles is pretty simple. Along with flying, you can use the online shopping portal SimplyMiles, buy gas with the FuelRewards program, spend on American Airlines’ credit cards, and so on. You can also transfer points from Marriott Bonvoy to American Airlines.

There aren’t as many ways to earn Alaska Airlines miles as with AA, but you still have options. You can transfer points from Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy, transfer points from HawaiianMiles, spend on Alaska Airlines’ credit cards, shop online, and more.

Hot Tip:

You pay the same number of miles to fly in reverse, from Finland back to the U.S. If you’re flying out of HEL with Finnair or a partner airline, you have access to Finnair’s premium lounges in Helsinki.

Final Thoughts

Finland has a lot to offer, though getting there from the U.S. involves a long flight. Luckily, we’re seeing lots of award space for nonstop flights to Helsinki out of multiple U.S. airports.

You can arrive refreshed after a comfortable flight in Finnair business class, and you can book these seats with miles between now and April 2026. We don’t expect this great availability to last forever, though, so you should book quickly.
