Award Alert — Details

These awards are available via Alaska Airlines or American Airlines, with flights operated by Fiji Airways. Fiji Airways tends to be very stingy when it comes to releasing business class award space to partners, which is why we ran to tell you when this award space opened up.

  • Class: Business
  • Routes: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Vancouver (YVR), Honolulu (HNL), and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Fiji (NAN), Auckland (AKL), and Sydney (SYD)
  • Dates: March 2025 through January 2026
  • Rates: As few as 75,000 miles one-way from the mainland U.S.

There’s decent availability throughout the year, with as many as 3 seats available on some dates.

You’ll find the cheapest flights from Honolulu (HNL) using just 65,000 American Airlines miles one-way.

However, if you’re traveling from the mainland, your best bet is to use Alaska Airlines miles, which will charge you 75,000 miles instead of the 80,000 that American charges.

Alaska Airlines also allows free stopovers, which means if you find award availability down to Auckland (AKL) or Sydney (SYD), you can continue onwards for no additional cost.

Best Ways To Book

You’ll either want to book these flights using American’s AAdvantage program or Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan. Accruing miles in either plan is difficult due to the lack of transfer partners.

If you want to use Alaska Airlines miles, you can transfer them from Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. Otherwise, you can transfer your American Express Membership Rewards to Hawaiian Airlines HawaiianMiles and then convert those miles to Alaska miles.

American Airlines doesn’t have any transfer partners. To earn a stash of AAdvantage miles, consider opening a co-branded credit card or shopping using Simply Miles.
