After several months of anticipation, the new MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy partnership is ready for primetime.

As of today, March 6, 2024, the 16 MGM properties that participate in this new tie-up are now bookable with cash or Marriott Bonvoy points through Marriott’s channels — and you’ll need as few as 5,000 points per night to do so at certain properties.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about this new relationship between MGM and Marriott.

MGM Collection With Marriott Bonvoy Details

Part of the new relationship between Marriott and MGM Resorts has been the formation of the so-called MGM Collection, which includes a total of 16 MGM properties that will participate in the Marriott Bonvoy program, meaning members can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at the properties.

In addition, Marriott’s elite members can expect a range of additional perks at MGM Collection properties when they’re booked through Marriott. MGM Rewards members can now link their accounts to Marriott Bonvoy to receive a Tier Match and Marriott Bonvoy member benefits.

Book Las Vegas MGM Properties From 5,000 Marriott Points

All participating properties in the MGM Collection are now bookable with Marriott Bonvoy points. In Las Vegas, you can do so from as few as 5,000 points per night.

Of course, these low award rates are found at some of the most inexpensive hotels on The Strip, like Excalibur Hotel and Casino. As you move up in the chain, you’ll pay more for a night. Here’s a look at some of the cheaper award options (note that rates depend on the dates of your stay):

  • Excalibur Hotel and Casino: from 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night
  • New York-New York Hotel and Casino: from 9,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night
  • MGM Grand Hotel and Casino: from 15,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night
  • The Signature at MGM Grand: from 20,000 points per night

And here’s a look at what you can expect to pay at some of the higher-end options on The Strip for a mid-April stay:

As you determine whether you’d prefer to pay with points or cash, remember that we value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents apiece. Using the example of the Vdara above, the 64,000 points required for an award night are worth roughly $448.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points

Thankfully, it’s easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. Marriott offers several co-branded credit cards that offer sizable welcome bonuses and earn handsomely, especially on Marriott purchases. As an added bonus, all of these cards offer some sort of complimentary elite status with the chain.

In addition, you can transfer points to Marriott Bonvoy from American Express Membership Rewards and Chase UItimate Rewards at a 1:1 ratio. Typically, we don’t recommend transferring points to Marriott Bonvoy, but with rates as low as 5,000 points per night, it wouldn’t be too much of a hit to transfer the points needed for a short stay of 1, 2, or even 3 nights at some of these properties.

Marriott Bonvoy Moments in Las Vegas

Marriott and MGM have released some new experiences tailored to Las Vegas that members can redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for. The initial offerings include:

  • A chance to choreograph the Bellagio Fountains, which includes a visit to the fountain’s design studio to work with the show’s producers to craft a unique show that you can view with 5 friends (available now).
  • An unforgettable weekend of golfing for you and 3 friends at the renowned Shadow Creek, which includes the chance to play the Shadow Creek course (one of the country’s best) and a VIP Bungalow Bay at Topgolf at the MGM Grand (available now).
  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at 4 of Cirque du Soleil’s most famous shows, including KÀ, Michael Jackson ONE, Mad Apple, and “O.” Guests will get special access, meet-and-greets with performers, a VIP pre-show experience, premier seating, and dining at some of the best restaurants found in the MGM resort portfolio (available now).

Marriott says there will be more exclusive experiences released soon via the Marriott Bonvoy Moments platform.

Marriott and BetMGM

Marriott and BetMGM, one of the leading sports betting platforms, also have a new partnership that will go live in certain states tomorrow, March 7, 2024, with additional states coming soon after.

Members will be able to earn points for playing, which can then be transferred directly into a Marriott Bonvoy account to redeem for free stays or other experiences. Members can earn Bonvoy points directly on certain BetMGM transactions and will have the opportunity to take part in exclusive games, experiences, and offers through the BetMGM platform.

Final Thoughts

It’s been relatively slow-going, but MGM’s partnership with Marriott has finally gone live. All properties participating in the partnership in Las Vegas and elsewhere are now bookable with Marriott Bonvoy points, and there are even opportunities to score Las Vegas-themed Marriott Bonvoy Moments.
