The ultra-low-cost Breeze Airways has announced that it will open a new base at Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) this fall. This is another step in the airline’s continuing expansion in Florida.

Here’s what you need to know.

New Breeze Airways Base Opens on October 1

Breeze Airways will open a new base at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers on October 1, 2024.

This will become Breeze’s third base in Florida and ninth overall. Breeze serves 19 destinations from RSW and will also begin seasonal service between RSW and the following airports:

  • Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT): 2x weekly, starting October 2, 2024
  • Stewart/Newburgh, New York (SWF): 2x weekly, starting October 2, 2024
  • Lansing, Michigan (LAN): 2x weekly, starting October 3, 2024
  • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania (AVP): 2x weekly, starting October 3, 2024
  • Bangor, Maine (BGR): 2x weekly, starting October 5, 2024

Breeze President Tom Doxey noted that the airline’s operations from Fort Myers have been “exceptionally popular” among travelers. The airline says it has flown more than 160,000 passengers in and out of RSW since its debut at the airport in June 2022.

“It’s been one of our fastest growing airports, now reaching 19 destinations in less than 2 years, thanks in large part to our close partnership with the team at Southwest Florida International,” Doxey said.

Earlier this month, Breeze announced Orlando International Airport (MCO) as its eighth base. The airline will also start service between that airport and Plattsburgh, New York (PBG), just south of Montreal, Quebec.

Bottom Line:

In the last 2 weeks, Breeze has added 2 new bases in Florida — at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).

About Breeze Airways

Breeze Airways is a budget airline with á la carte pricing.

That means services typically included with an airline ticket on a non-budget carrier will cost you extra on Breeze. For instance, you’ll pay extra for seat selection and baggage (up to $50) with the lowest-priced tickets.

Hot Tip:

If you’re flying Breeze, make sure to check out the airline’s online bag price checker to avoid an expensive surprise at the airport!

Breeze just launched its first credit card, the Breeze Easy™ Visa Signature® Credit Card. However, unless you’re a Breeze loyalist, there are other options that offer better benefits and rewards, including the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, or Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card.

Final Thoughts

Breeze has announced a significant expansion at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, which will see a new crew base at the airport. We hope Breeze continues to grow its operations in Florida in the near future!
