British Airways has launched its nonstop service from London Heathrow (LHR) to Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG).

As of June 5, 2023, the British flag carrier is the only airline offering nonstop service from the Ohio city of Cincinnati to the U.K. capital of London.

“When we look at the Cincinnati region we see a vibrant part of the U.S. with a great mix of business and leisure travelers who have long asked for more international service and global connectivity, which is what made it so attractive to us and why we’re confident this new route will be a success,” said Neil Chernoff, Director of Networks and Alliances for British Airways.

Here’s what we know about Cincinnati’s hottest route for summer 2023.

British Airways Has Arrived in Cincinnati

For the first time in the airline’s history, British Airways has landed in Cincinnati.

The airport, which is actually located in the state of Kentucky, is the 27th U.S. airport with nonstop British Airways service to the U.K.

The nonstop service will initially operate 5 times per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays in the summer. The schedule will be as follows:

  • Depart London Heathrow (LHR) 4:05 p.m. — Arrive Cincinnati (CVG) 7:45 p.m.
  • Depart Cincinnati (CVG) 9:30 p.m. — Arrive London Heathrow (LHR) 10:15 a.m. (+1)

When the winter season rolls around, the Tuesday service will be removed bringing the total down to 4 weekly rotations with the following schedule:

  • Depart London Heathrow (LHR) 4:00 p.m. — Arrive Cincinnati (CVG) 6:40 p.m.
  • Depart Cincinnati (CVG) 8:25 p.m. — Arrive London Heathrow (LHR) 10:10 a.m. (+1)

Not only is this an exciting new route for those living in Cincinnati and Ohio, but BA’s new route is also the closest nonstop service to the U.K. for many living in the neighboring states of Kentucky and Indiana.

“British Airways’ nonstop service from CVG to London Heathrow is an all-around win for the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana region,” said Candace McGraw, Chief Executive Officer of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “The economic impact of this transatlantic flight is exponential for business travel, economic development, and tourism between the UK and our area of the United States.”

The aircraft that operates the route are BA’s fleet of Boeing 777 and 787-8 Dreamliners which comprise of lie-flat seats in Club World (business class) as well as World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and economy cabins. Unfortunately, these are BA’s oldest Dreamliners which haven’t yet been outfitted with the new Club Suite business class product.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to British Airways, those living in Cincinnati and the neighboring regions in Indiana, Kentucky, and other parts of Ohio now have access to nonstop service to London starting in the summer of 2023.
