The Avios-earning credit cards from Chase — the British Airways Visa Signature® Card, Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Card, and Iberia Visa Signature® Card — are back with up to 100,000 Avios welcome bonus, but the bonus structure is quite a bit different than before.

Here is a closer look at the details of the new bonus, along with how to decide which card is the best option for you.

New Welcome Bonus for Avios-earning Credit Cards

On all 3 card options, you can earn up to 100,000 Avios. You’ll earn 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening, and an additional 25,000 Avios after you spend $20,000 in the first 12 months of account opening.

While $20,000 is a quite large amount to spend in order to receive the full bonus, you do have a full 12 months to meet that figure, and you’d have at least 120,000 Avios when it’s all said and done.

Depending on your travel goals, this sum could be quite valuable to you if you the best ways to redeem British Airways Avios. Also, don’t forget that Avios earned with any program can be transferred at a 1:1 rate to the others, along with the newest partner, Qatar Airways.

Avios Card Comparison

Here is a look at what each Avios card can offer to you. As you can see, they are largely very similar but offer a few unique differences between each card.

Which Avios Card Should You Choose?

Which Avios card you should choose largely comes down to which airline you plan to fly the most with. Since your Avios can be transferred between all of the airlines, you’re not limited by redemption options, so picking the best card for you comes down to the specific card perks.

In our view, the British Airways Visa card offers the strongest combination of benefits, thanks to its 10% discount on British Airways flights departing the U.S., up to $600 in award flight fee credits each year, and the ability to earn the British Airways Travel Together Ticket.

Final Thoughts

You can now earn up to 100,000 Avios on all 3 Avios-branded cards offered from Chase, so long as you are able to spend $20,000 on the card within the 12-month welcome bonus window. One advantage of this large spend requirement, aside from the extra Avios that you’d earn, is that you will be two-thirds of the way towards unlocking the annual spend benefit offered by each card, which would significantly boost the overall value you earn from the card.
