San José (SJC) is back on British Airways’ route map — the last of the airline’s U.S. destinations to restart as travel returns to a new normal.

The first flight from the California airport departed for London (LHR) on Monday, June 13, 2022, after originally being scheduled to restart in March 2022.

The re-addition of BA’s nonstop service from San José to London Heathrow both confirms the importance of the U.S. to the airline’s network and brings a host of new travel possibilities for those living in the San José area.

Let’s take a look at the details of California’s most exciting new route.

Fly Nonstop From San José to London Heathrow

San José (SJC) joins Los Angeles (LAX), San Diego (SAN), and San Francisco (SFO) as California’s fourth city with a British Airways nonstop service to London Heathrow (LHR).

BA’s return to the city opens up an exciting new world of travel opportunities for travelers as the route acts as the only nonstop service from San Jose (SCJ) to Europe.

The service is operating on a once-daily basis with the following schedule:

  • Depart San José (SJC) 8 p.m. — Arrive London Heathrow (LHR) 2:15 p.m.
  • Depart London Heathrow 3 p.m. — Arrive San José (SJC) 6 p.m.

The airline’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft is flying the route. The jets comprise of 35 lie-flat seats in Club World (business class), 25 recliner seats in World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and 154 standard seats in World Traveller (economy).

Given the lack of BA’s first class product and its business class being made up of the old Club World cabin and seats, you might wish to avoid splashing out on premium seats for this route.

Only the airlines 787-9 and -10 variants of the Dreamliner have first class, while the latter is the only Dreamliner variant to boast the airline’s Club Suite — a vast improvement on Club World.
