Hilton is continuing its expansion in Mexico with the addition of the Canopy by Hilton Guadalajara.

Let’s take a look at the news and what you need to know about the hotel.

Hilton’s Big Expansion in Western Mexico

Canopy by Hilton Guadalajara will be a new construction hotel with 170 rooms. The hotel will be within walking distance of a shopping mall, and amenities will include a lobby bar, an all-day restaurant, a rooftop featuring a pool, and a bar and restaurant.

Canopy by Hilton Guadalajara will open for guests in 2028, though it’s unclear exactly when at this time.

“We are thrilled to introduce Canopy by Hilton to Guadalajara as we continue to expand the brand’s footprint of more than 40 high-end, boutique hotels in the most desirable destinations around the world,” said Jenna Hackett, brand leader of Canopy by Hilton.

“Canopy Guadalajara will deliver an inviting hotel experience that truly immerses guests in the best of the locale with sophisticated design, bespoke food and beverage, and premium amenities,” Hackett continued.

Located in western Mexico, Guadalajara is the capital of the state of Jalisco. The city is well-known for its historic center and is famed for its tequila and mariachi music.

Bottom Line:

Hilton has 5 hotels open in Guadalajara, including the recently opened Hilton Garden Inn Guadalajara Airport. That hotel has 180 rooms and features an all-day restaurant, a fitness center, and several meeting and event spaces.

Booking Hilton Hotels in Mexico

Hilton has a prominent presence throughout Mexico. In fact, it is Hilton’s fifth-largest market worldwide, with more than 90 hotels open and 30 in the pipeline. That means you have dozens of options to earn and redeem your Hilton Honors points, especially at high-end hotels and resorts.

For instance, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal may very well be one of the most luxurious resorts in the Americas, and such distinction doesn’t come without a high price. Rates at the hotel frequently top $1,400 per night — but you don’t have to pay that.

That’s because you can find award nights at this resort starting around 120,000 points per night, a steal for such a pricey property.

While that may seem high, it is very easy to earn Hilton Honors points, even if you don’t frequent the chain. You can earn them through a co-branded credit card or transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards. You can also earn Hilton Honors points on your Lyft rides or through Hilton Honors Dining.

Final Thoughts

Hilton seems to be all-in on Guadalajara, as it is opening a new Canopy hotel in the city in the coming years. This is great news for travelers, who will have yet another option for Hilton stays in Mexico. In the meantime, this is the perfect opportunity to check out Hilton’s other high-end hotels in Mexico!
