A new partnership between Cardless and LATAM is set to bring the first-ever co-branded travel rewards credit cards to the largest airline group in South America.
We finally have the details as to what these 2 new co-branded LATAM credit cards will offer to travelers — here’s everything you need to know!
New LATAM Credit Cards
There are 2 new LATAM cards being launched — the more-premium version has a $99 annual fee, while the base-level card has no annual fee.
LATAM Airlines World Elite Mastercard
Welcome Bonus: Earn 40,000 miles after spending $2,500 within the first 3 months.
Annual Fee: $99
Card Earnings:
4x miles per $1 spent on LATAM purchases
3x miles per $1 spent on restaurants and ground transportation
1x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
The card will also earn Qualifying Points towards LATAM elite status at a rate of 20% of miles earned from card purchases, and it does not charge foreign transaction fees. Plus, you’ll receive 2 LATAM lounge access passes each year and 3 upgrade coupons (unless you already have LATAM Pass Gold Plus elite status and above).
LATAM Airlines Mastercard
Welcome Bonus: Earn 15,000 miles after spending $1,000 within the first 3 months.
Annual Fee: $0
Card Earnings:
3x miles per $1 on LATAM purchases
2x miles per $1 at restaurants and on ground transportation
1x miles per $1 on all other purchases
Even with no annual fee, this card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees. It earns Qualifying Points at a rate of 10% of miles earned from card purchases.
Signature Cardless Features
Customers can expect that the cards will boast many of Cardless’ signature features, such as a seamless application process, a virtual card delivered to your mobile wallet within seconds of approval, and a physical card without a printed card number to protect the cardholder from fraud.
Use LATAM Miles for Delta Flights Between the U.S. and South America
If you’re a U.S.-based flyer, you may be wondering what good LATAM miles would do for you.
While searching for award flights through LATAM can be a bit clunky, you can find award space between the U.S. and South American cities, such as Buenos Aires (EZE), Lima (LIM), Santiago (SCL), and São Paulo (GRU), for as few as 72,000 miles each way. This is often more than 50% less than what Delta would charge to book this ticket using SkyMiles.
While these new co-branded LATAM cards might not be a slam dunk for most U.S.-based flyers, it’s great to see an innovative company like Cardless launch its first airline partnership after previously only having worked with sports teams.
Ideally, this first step will lead to many more co-branded travel partnerships in the future!
