Cathay Pacific will expand its Hong Kong Flavours menu offered to its first and business class passengers, thanks to its latest partnership with Michelin-starred, Cantonese restaurant Duddell’s in Hong Kong.
With the new inflight menu, the world-class airline hopes to celebrate Hong Kong’s culinary heritage and introduce more travelers to the region’s culinary traditions.
Keep reading for more details.
An Overview of Hong Kong Flavours
Hong Kong Flavours is Cathay Pacific’s exclusive inflight menu offered in first and business class to showcase the city’s most popular dishes.
Cathay Pacific has partnered with Hong Kong culinary icon and Michelin-starred restaurant Duddell’s — which happens to have an outpost in the Hong Kong Airport (HKG) — to expand and refresh the airline’s Hong Kong Flavours menu.
Previously only featuring a few items, the new promotional menu will feature refreshed dishes that will be available throughout the year. Passengers in first and business class will receive a 3-course meal, including an appetizer, main dish, and a dessert of traditional Hong Kong food.
“As Hong Kong’s home airline, we place great importance on serving our customers with authentic local culinary delights through our ‘Hong Kong Flavours’ concept, while also showcasing the diverse range of cuisines our city has to offer,” said Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience and Design. “By partnering with renowned Hong Kong restaurants, we hope to give our customers an unforgettable introduction to our city’s culinary offerings and a comforting reminder of the taste of home.”
First Class Menu
First class passengers can look forward to appetizer options like chilled abalone and cucumber with black vinegar or minced pork with mixed vegetables and pomelo. For their main dish, they can try local seafood restaurant favorite wok-fried lobster in white pepper sauce or a red braised Iberico pork belly with radish.
For dessert, Cathay Pacific points out the cool and refreshing chrysanthemum and longan jelly, two ingredients used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Business class passengers will experience a slightly different menu, albeit just as appealing.
Appetizers include drunken prawns with aged Huadiao wine and shredded chicken and jellyfish salad. For the main course, passengers have a choice between steamed halibut with cordyceps flowers, and barramundi fillets with pickled mustard greens in hot and sour rice noodle soup.
The dessert menu will include ginger milk pudding or strawberry yogurt.
Hot Tip: You can preorder your meal on Cathay Pacific between 10 days and 24 hours before departure for eligible long-haul flights.
Final Thoughts
Cathay Pacific’s partnership with popular Hong Kong restaurant Duddell’s is sure to be a welcome offering to its first and business class passengers. The airline is making a conscious effort to grow Hong Kong’s reputation for being a culinary capital of the world by bringing the city’s flavors to international passengers, and the new inflight menu will be available throughout the year.
