After announcing an abrupt shift away from its consisten 2-cent-per-point value, Chase has added a buffer: that original rate will be honored through December 22, 2025, for new bookings in The Edit collection.

Earlier this year, Chase introduced Points Boost on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and guaranteed 2 cents per point on hotel bookings in The Edit — Chase’s booking platform.

The language clearly stated that “your points are worth 2x when you book a hotel that is part of The Edit.” But this week, we discovered that Chase changed The Edit redemption terms to “up to 2x,” removing the guaranteed value and leaving travelers unsure of exactly how far their points will go.

Now, Chase is softening the impact of its recent update, which replaced the fixed 2-cent redemption rate with “up to” 2 cents per point on hotel bookings through The Edit within Chase Travel.

In a statement provided to Upgraded Points, Chase said:

We will proactively honor 2x points value for any customers who book a stay at a property in The Edit through December 22, 2025. Customers will see the points adjustment in their Ultimate Rewards balance.

In simple terms, any new The Edit bookings made through Chase Travel by December 22 will still get the full 2-cent-per-point value — even if the checkout screen shows less. Chase will make the adjustment automatically.

This gives travelers a few more days to plan and still lock in strong value, especially at high-end properties, during peak travel dates or for last-minute getaways. For Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders who rely on Ultimate Rewards points for premium travel, this extension takes some pressure off and softens what had been an abrupt and surprising policy change.
