Chase Sapphire Preferred Card’s 100K Welcome Offer

Right now, eligible new applicants for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card can earn 100,000 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

This is the best welcome offer the Chase Sapphire Preferred card has ever carried — and it’s only the third time in the card’s history that a 100,000-point bonus has been available. The standard offer sits at 75,000 points, so this is 33% more than what new applicants typically see.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

We value Chase Ultimate Rewards points at 2 cents apiece, putting this welcome offer at roughly $2,000 in travel value. Transfer points to one of Chase’s many airline or hotel partners, and that figure can climb even higher.

What’s New for 2026?

The timing here is worth paying attention to, because the Chase Sapphire Preferred card received a notable refresh for 2026 — without any increase to its $95 annual fee. New additions include 3x points on gas and EV charging, 3x points on vacation rentals, a $120 application fee credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS, and an enhanced Chase Travel hotel credit now worth up to $100 annually, doubled from the previous $50.

There is one significant downside, though. New Chase Sapphire Preferred cardmembers will face a reduced 4:3 transfer rate to World of Hyatt, while all other travel partners maintain the standard 1:1 ratio.

Even so, combined with the card’s existing bonus categories and its lineup of airline and hotel transfer partners, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is as well-rounded as it’s ever been. Starting with 100,000 bonus points on a card this large is a move worth making.

Who’s Eligible for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card?

Chase updated its eligibility rules for the Sapphire family of cards in 2025, and the most important change is that you can only earn a welcome bonus offer on each Sapphire card once per lifetime. If you’ve already earned a Chase Sapphire Preferred card welcome offer at any point in the past, you won’t qualify for this one.

That said, the updated rules have also opened a new door for some applicants. If you currently hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ and have never earned a welcome offer specifically on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you may now be eligible to apply — something that wasn’t possible under Chase’s older eligibility rules.

Beyond Sapphire-specific requirements, you’ll also need to be under Chase’s 5/24 threshold — meaning you’ve opened fewer than 5 new credit cards across all issuers in the past 24 months — and have good to excellent credit.

Is The 100K Welcome Offer Worth It?

At $95 per year, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card doesn’t have many rivals. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card also has a $95 annual fee, but is currently offering a 75,000-mile welcome bonus offer — 25,000 points short of what the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is offering right now.

The American Express® Gold Card‘s offer can reach as high as 100,000 points, but its $325 annual fee is much higher (rates & fees).

Final Thoughts

If you’re eligible and have been weighing the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, there’s not much reason to hold off. Once this bonus offer is gone, there’s no guarantee it will come back.

The combination of a 100,000-point welcome offer, a modest annual fee, and access to one of the most flexible rewards currencies in travel is rare. This limited-time welcome offer has appeared only twice in the card’s 17-year history. Since it’s going away soon, it’s worth taking a closer look while you still can.
