Choice Hotels is making a move few travelers saw coming.

The company announced a deal to acquire Harvest Hosts, an RV travel membership platform, for roughly $130 million in cash, with the transaction expected to close on October 1.

For a company best known for budget-friendly hotel brands, moving into the outdoors market is a notable shift — and for loyalty members, it raises an obvious question: What does this mean for Choice Privileges?

What Choice Is Actually Buying

Choice Hotels is acquiring 100% of Harvest Hosts, a membership platform that connects RV travelers with overnight stays at more than 11,200 locations, including wineries, farms, breweries, and museums.

Harvest Hosts also owns Boondockers Welcome, Escapees RV Club, CampScanner, and Brit Stops, giving Choice a much broader foothold in the outdoor and RV travel market.

For now, not much is changing for Harvest Hosts members. The company will continue operating under its own brand, with founder Joel Holland staying on as CEO.

What This Means for Choice Privileges Members

At present, Choice hasn’t announced any Harvest Hosts integration with Choice Privileges. For now, you won’t be able to earn Choice points on a Harvest Hosts stay, and you cannot redeem them either.

One detail stands out, though. Choice said its Choice Privileges members are already RV travelers, so there’s a natural overlap between its loyalty base and the Harvest Hosts. That overlap is almost certainly why Choice wanted the deal, and it’s the logical groundwork for any future loyalty connection.

Could that eventually mean earning or redeeming Choice points on RV trips? Possibly. It would be a natural fit, and anyone sitting on a pile of Choice points would welcome another way to spend them. But that is speculation, not a benefit you can bank on.

Any real integration would need its own announcement. Until then, this is an acquisition with potential for loyalty rather than a new perk.

Hot Tip:

Harvest Hosts isn’t part of Choice Privileges yet, so don’t expect to earn or redeem Choice points for RV stays just yet.

Hotel Chains Getting Into the Outdoors

Choice is not the first major loyalty program to chase the outdoors, and its rivals have already gone a step further.

Hilton teamed up with AutoCamp, letting Hilton Honors members earn or redeem points on stays in Airstreams, cabins, and luxury tents near national parks.

World of Hyatt added Under Canvas, with points earning and redemption at roughly a dozen upscale glamping sites.

Marriott went broadest, launching its Bonvoy Outdoor Collection in 2025 with Postcard Cabins and Trailborn, letting members earn and redeem points.

Each of those deals came with a loyalty hook from the start. Choice’s, so far, does not.

Final Thoughts

A hotel company buying an RV membership platform is not something most travelers had on their radar. At about $130 million, it’s a small bet for Choice, and the immediate impact on members is close to zero.

What matters is what comes next. If Choice ties Harvest Hosts to Choice Privileges down the line, this modest deal could become one of the more creative loyalty moves in travel. For now, we’ll keep an eye on it and wait for any future details of loyalty program integration.
