Choice Privileges has added LATAM Pass as its newest transfer partner, giving members another valuable option for redeeming points, as first reported by Award Wallet. The addition marks a notable expansion for the hotel loyalty program, which has steadily added to its roster of airline partners in recent years.

Here’s what you need to know.

Choice Points Now Transfer to LATAM Airlines

LATAM Pass is the frequent flyer program of LATAM Airlines, a major South American carrier with hubs in Santiago, Lima, and São Paulo. With a broad route network spanning South America, the U.S., and beyond, LATAM is a popular choice for travelers heading to destinations like Patagonia, the Galápagos, or Machu Picchu.

Those who wish to visit Latin America and have a heap of Choice Privileges points can now transfer to LATAM’s Pass loyalty program at a 5:1 ratio. This means 5,000 Choice points convert to 1,000 LATAM miles.

You can transfer your points in increments of 5,000, and the process usually takes just a few business days to complete. You can easily find transfers on the Choice Privileges website in the “Redeem Points” section.

Although the 5:1 transfer ratio may not be the most generous available, this new option could still provide good value for specific redemptions — especially in LATAM’s sweet spots, such as short-haul flights within South America or business class seats between the U.S. and South America.

Hot Tip:

LATAM Pass miles may not offer the highest value across the board, but there are still great ways to redeem LATAM miles for maximum value. One standout redemption is flying Delta One business class between the U.S. and South America for just 72,000 LATAM Pass miles one-way — a great deal compared to what Delta often charges in its own SkyMiles program.

A Growing Roster of Partners

LATAM joins a growing list of airline partners within the Choice Privileges program, which also includes Air Canada Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, and Southwest Rapid Rewards. This expansion reflects Choice Hotels’ broader push to make its points more versatile for frequent travelers.

The move is also timely for members who earn Choice points via credit card spend on the Choice Privileges® Mastercard® or the Choice Privileges® Select Mastercard®. With more airline partners, it’s easier to turn hotel points into flight redemptions.

Final Thoughts

While hotel points are typically best used for free nights, the ability to transfer them to an airline program such as LATAM Pass expands the range of travel options. For travelers planning trips to South America, this new partnership provides another flexible avenue for using their rewards.

As always, it’s important to compare the value of a hotel night versus a flight redemption before transferring.
