Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has partnered with Kauaʻi Coco Palms Resort to debut the first property in Hawaii for IHG Hotels & Resorts’ lifestyle premium brand.

The Coco Palms Resort on Kauaʻi, Hawaii’s oldest and northernmost island, became famous as the setting for Elvis Presley’s 1961 film “Blue Hawaii”.

Here’s everything you should know about Kimpton’s planned Hawaii opening.

Debut of the Kimpton Brand in Hawaii

The restored iconic hotel, sprawling across 15 acres of coconut palms, will include 350 guest rooms divided among 3 low-rise hotel buildings, as well as cottages.

The amenities will feature 3 outdoor swimming pools, a rooftop bar, a pool bar, a spa, and a remodeled shoreline restaurant. The hotel will change its name from the Coco Palms Resort to the Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort in 2026, after the property has been fully restored.

Continuing a cherished Coco Palms tradition, the evening torch-lighting ceremony will continue to take place when the hotel transitions into a Kimpton resort.

Like all Kimptons, the resort will be pet-friendly and include yoga mats in each room. Guests can expect to continue enjoying the Kimpton Kickstart complimentary morning coffee and tea service and an evening happy hour.

“We are incredibly excited to establish our luxury and lifestyle presence in Hawaii with Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort,” SVP, Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts Leanne Harwood said. “Hawaii beckons travelers seeking both relaxation and discovery, and this wholly reimagined resort will welcome not only visitors, but also the local community, with unique, culturally respectful experiences all within an inspiring boutique luxury setting.”

Bottom Line:

When it opens, Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort, will be the brand’s West Coast flagship resort in the Americas. It will expand Kimpton’s global resort portfolio, which already includes boutique oasis’s like Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa in Grand Cayman and Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel in South Beach.

How To Book

While Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort is not yet accepting reservations, you can anticipate to be able to book a stay using cash or IHG One Rewards points.

With the opening still a few years away, if you’re planning a future trip to Hawaii and want to stay at the Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort, you should start earning IHG One Rewards points, which is relatively simple. To earn points, you can use one of the best credit cards for IHG loyalists or transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

This news will surely thrill IHG loyalists and avid fans of the Kimpton brand, as they will eventually have the opportunity to enjoy a luxurious points option in the beautiful destination of Hawaii.

As we eagerly anticipate the opening of Coco Palms, A Kimpton Resort, it’s worth considering adding IHG One Rewards to your points stash. This way, you’ll be ready to book a stay when the resort opens or at any of the exceptional Kimpton properties worldwide!
