Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

After a long absence from The Big Apple, Etihad’s A380 is finally returning to New York City.

While that may be good news on its own, what makes this even sweeter is the fact that the airline has made its world-famous First Class Apartment available to book with miles — and we are seeing a bunch of last-minute availability if your travel plans are flexible!

This is a bucket-list flight for many, so seeing lots of availability is a big deal. (Shoutout to One Mile at a Time for flagging this last-minute award space!).

Run, don’t walk, if you’ve been waiting for this opportunity.

Fare Deal — Details

The Etihad A380 First Class Apartment is high on the bucket list for many points and miles travelers. Often billed as one of the best experiences in the sky, it comes complete with a leather armchair for a seat, a day bed that turns into an almost 7-foot-long bed, and a closing door for extra privacy.

Plus, if you book 2 of them, you can lower the wall in between Apartments to create your own space with a double bed in the sky. Not to mention the incredible ground experience and inflight dining options.

After flying exclusively between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and London (LHR), most recently, Etihad’s nonstop flights to New York (JFK) will begin on Monday, April 22 — and there is plenty of last-minute award availability.

  • Class: First
  • Routes: New York (JFK) to/from Abu Dhabi (AUH)
  • Cost: 115,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles and $7 in taxes and fees
  • Travel Dates: April and May 2024
  • Award Seats: Up to 3 passengers per route

This flight sells for over $7,000 each way, so being able to book with points and miles is an incredible value.

Best Ways To Book

The least expensive way to fly Etihad First Class is by using American Airlines AAdvantage miles, which would cost 115,000 + $7.00 for a one-way flight departing from New York City.

If you need to earn more American miles, you can transfer points from Bilt Rewards (be sure to do so before their partnership ends in June) or take advantage of the generous welcome offer from the refreshed Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®.

Alternatively, you could book directly with Etihad Guest, but that will cost you 160,000 to 200,000 miles and $544 for the same flight. Etihad is a transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy, and you can use our awesome transfer partner tool calculator to know exactly how many points and miles you’ll need.

Hot Tip:

If you’re having issues booking, you can call American Airlines. Or, as Upgraded Points’ senior editor Juan Ruiz did, chat with an agent via the American Airlines mobile app (iOS, Android) to finish the ticketing process.

Final Thoughts

Being able to fly the incredible Etihad A380 First Class Apartment for as few as 115,000 miles one-way is an absolute steal. Although availability is limited to last-minute flights, if you’ve been dreaming about this flight, now is your chance if you can make the dates work.

The information regarding the Citi®/AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® was independently collected by Upgraded Points and not provided nor reviewed by the issuer.
