Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

After being grounded for nearly 3 years, Etihad Airways’ A380 is officially back in the skies.

While that may be good news on its own, what makes this even sweeter is the fact that the airline has made its world-famous First Class Apartment available to book with miles — and availability is wide open all the way through June 2024!

This is a bucket-list flight for many, so seeing this much availability for so few miles (relatively speaking) is a big deal.

Run, don’t walk, if you’ve been waiting for this opportunity.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Fare Deal — Details

The Etihad A380 First Class Apartment is high on the bucket list for many points and miles travelers. Often billed as one of the best experiences in the sky, it comes complete with a leather armchair for a seat, a day bed that turns into an almost-7-foot-long bed, and a closing door for extra privacy

Plus, if you book 2 of them, you can lower the wall in between Apartments to create your own space with a double bed in the sky. Not to mention the incredible ground experience and inflight dining options.

While Etihad used to fly this aircraft around the world, the airline is bringing it back exclusively between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and London (LHR) for now — and there is plenty of award availability.

  • Class: First
  • Routes: Abu Dhabi (AUH) to/from London (LHR)
  • Dates: August 2023-June 2024
  • Rates: 62,500 miles one-way

This flight sells for more than $6,000 each way, so being able to book with points and miles is an incredible value.

It’s just a shame that the flight isn’t longer!

Best Ways To Book

The least expensive way to fly Etihad First Class is by using American Airlines AAdvantage miles which would cost 62,500 + $318.60 for a one-way flight.

You can search for availability on AA.com, and by using the award calendar, you can search for 1 month at a time.

Although availability is slightly harder to find, you could tack on an additional flight to the Middle East or the Maldives for no extra cost. The second leg would not be on the A380, but will still be in first class.

If you need to boost your AA balance you can transfer points from Bilt Rewards or take advantage of the generous welcome offer from the refreshed Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®.

Alternatively, you could book directly with Etihad Guest, which would cost you 140,006 miles and $562.

Etihad is a transfer partner of Capital One Miles, Marriott Bonvoy, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and American Express Membership Rewards.

Hot Tip:

If you’re having issues booking via AA.com, you can call American Airlines. Or, as Upgraded Points’ Juan Ruiz did, chat with an agent via the American Airlines mobile app (iOS, Android) to finish the ticketing process.

Final Thoughts

Being able to fly the incredible Etihad A380 First Class Apartment for as little as 62,500 miles one-way is an absolute steal. Seeing this much award availability is unheard of, and we don’t know how long it will last, so if you’ve been dreaming about this flight, now is your chance.

The only negative with this flight is that it’s only 7 hours long, and many of us would like as much time as possible on this aircraft!
