New documents reveal that multiple airlines are expanding their footprint with brand-new lounge spaces — a welcome upgrade for one of the busiest gateways to Hawaii.

Plans filed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at Honolulu Airport (HNL) indicate 3 new airline lounges under development by Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, signaling a significant boost in premium offerings.

As first reported by View From The Wing, lease agreements outline where and how these new spaces will take shape.

If Southwest sounds familiar here, that’s because we already reported that the airline plans to open its first-ever lounge in Honolulu. These latest filings provide a bit more detail, including that the airline appears to be planning a larger lounge than initially approved.

Beyond that, the documents also reveal that Alaska Airlines and Delta are working on lounge projects of their own at HNL, rounding out a broader expansion of airline-operated spaces at the airport.

For Alaska Airlines, this looks like a pretty big, long-term project. The airline is eyeing more than 14,000 square feet in the Mauka Extension of the Inter Island Terminal, along with a required multimillion-dollar investment to build it out. That lines up with what Alaska has previously shared about working on a more premium lounge experience.

Delta Air Lines is also planning a new lounge in Terminal 2 near the Diamond Head concourses. At over 12,000 square feet, it would be noticeably larger than its current Sky Club near Gate G1, so travelers can likely expect a more updated and spacious setup.

Both lounges are around the same size, which helps paint a clearer picture of what airlines are going for at HNL.
