For a limited time, you can redeem fewer Delta SkyMiles than normal to destinations in Europe, Asia and the South Pacific, as well as Australia and New Zealand. You’ll need to book by October 10, 2024.

That’s not a lot of time, so here’s what you need to know to start booking.

Delta Award Flash Sale — Details

The latest award sale from Delta SkyMiles lets you use fewer miles than normal to book an award flight. Since Delta eliminated award charts a few years ago, it can be tough to know exactly how many miles you’ll need for a flight — or exactly how much of a discount you’re getting during this sale.

That said, there are some solid deals here, with destinations in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. Eligible travel dates vary by destination, but these are clearly indicated when you sort through the eligible destinations on the promotion page.

You’ll find trips to London, Milan, Paris, Sydney, Auckland, and Papeete, among others, if you’re departing from New York City. Luckily, the prices and eligible travel dates are shown clearly in the chart.

You can filter by origin, region, or destination airport, and the price you’ll see is for round-trip travel, per person.

This sale is part of the Delta SkyMiles Flash Sale series, which can provide excellent discounts when redeeming your miles for flights.

However, it gets even better, because you can find even cheaper deals if you have a Delta SkyMiles credit card from American Express.

How does 39,000 miles (plus taxes and fees) sound for a round-trip flight in Delta’s Main Cabin economy between New York City (JFK) and London, U.K. (LHR)? That low number of miles is possible because you can stack the discount from this flash sale with the discount from holding a Delta credit card, providing even further discounts on the miles you need.

There are some terms to this sale you’ll want to know:

  • Baggage fees may still apply on top of any miles and cash you pay at the time of booking.
  • The cheapest prices are for basic economy seats, which are nonrefundable.

If you need more SkyMiles in your account, you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio, and transfers are typically instant.

Hot Tip:

Did you know Delta Amex cardholders can get 15% off award prices when redeeming Delta SkyMiles for Delta flights? It’s a quality benefit you can use as many times as you wish.

Final Thoughts

Until October 10, you can redeem fewer Delta SkyMiles than normal if you’re heading to Europe, Asia, and destinations beyond. You can stack those deals with your Delta Amex cardholder benefit for an extra 15% discount on the number of many miles you need, creating some excellent deals.
