Looking to visit Walt Disney World in the near future? Buy your tickets now, because Disney has just announced another round of ticket increases for its theme parks.

Let’s dig into the details.

Disney World Increases Ticket Prices

This is the second time this year that Disney has chosen to increase the price of its theme park tickets, citing significant investment into the parks and continued strong demand as its reason for doing so.

Unfortunately, this means that families (and childless millennials) will soon be paying as much as $189 for a 1-day, 1-park ticket. Note that the increase only applies to single-day tickets, though annual passes will see a price hike as well.

The good news is that this price increase doesn’t take effect until December 8, 2022, so you have the opportunity to pick up some tickets now to avoid those additional costs. Here’s the current rate for tickets:

  • One-day, 1-park: $109 to $159 depending on when you visit

From December 8 onward, pricing is going to depend both on when you visit and which theme park you’re visiting. Here’s how much a 1-day 1-park ticket will cost:

  • Magic Kingdom: $124 to $189
  • Hollywood Studios: $124 to $179
  • Animal Kingdom: $109 to $159
  • EPCOT: $114 to $179

Other add-ons, including Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus, will get a price increase, though we don’t know yet what that’ll look like.

How To Save Money on a Disney World Vacation

It’s becoming difficult to pull off an affordable vacation to Walt Disney World, and these increased ticket prices aren’t helping. Still, there are a few different tricks you can use to help save money if you’re looking to head to Florida anytime soon.

First, consider using points and miles for both flights and accommodations during your stay. Orlando is rife with chain hotels, making it very simple to redeem points for a stay. If you’re intent on staying at a Disney resort, book via the Capital One Travel portal and use your Capital One miles to redeem against the purchase (within 90 days).

You can also find deals on theme park tickets with third-party websites like Undercover Tourist. Although the savings aren’t huge, they do offer a cheaper price than you’ll find at Disney. Otherwise, visit your local Sam’s Club to find discounted Disney gift cards. You can then use these to pay for your theme park tickets.

Hot Tip: The Chase travel portal also allows you to buy Universal Orlando tickets using your Ultimate Rewards points.

Target also offers the ability to save money on Disney gift cards for those who hold the Target RedCard™, Target RedCard™ Debit, or Target RedCard™ Mastercard. Using any of these cards to pay will net you a 5% discount on your purchase.

Final Thoughts

Disney is quickly pricing out the average family with its ever-rising prices, and this newest announcement is no exception. Increased ticket prices hit on December 8, 2022 — if you’re looking to travel soon buy your tickets now!
