World of Hyatt’s top-tier Globalist status is one of the most coveted among all of the loyalty programs because of its extensive benefits. That’s why many travelers, including myself, strive to qualify (or, in my case, requalify) for World of Hyatt Globalist elite status.

To achieve Globalist status, members must accumulate either 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 base points within a calendar year.

As we approach the final stretch of 2024, I’m using a mix of these 4 strategies to help me achieve my goal of reaching 60 nights and earn my Globalist status for the next year ahead.

1. Taking a Staycation in Florida To Earn Double Elite Qualifying Nights

Hyatt frequently offers promotions that can boost your points balance or help you earn extra elite nights. For example, Hyatt recently introduced a new double-elite night promotion (now expired) that offered World of Hyatt members the opportunity to accelerate their progress towards World of Hyatt elite status when staying at select Hyatt hotels in Florida.

Those who registered by August 30, 2024, can earn double the nights towards their elite status and receive a bonus of 1,000 points for stays at select Hyatt properties in Florida before September 30, 2024.

Fortunately for me, I live in South Florida. Since I need a few more elite nights to reach 60, I am arranging a stay at a local Hyatt that qualifies for the double elite night bonus, which will undoubtedly help speed up my progress.

For example, if I book a 1-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Miami for 9,000 points, I’ll earn 2 elite qualifying nights toward status. At an average cost of 4,500 World of Hyatt points per night, this is a savvy way to earn elite nights at a low cost — even in a high-priced city like Miami.

2. Gifting Guest of Honor Awards to Friends and Family

World of Hyatt Guest of Honor awards are an exclusive perk available to World of Hyatt Globalist members. The Guest of Honor feature allows Globalist members to share their valuable  benefits with friends and family. Essentially, it allows Globalists to transfer their privileges to someone else who is staying at a Hyatt hotel.

The Guest of Honor perk is a recent addition to the World of Hyatt program for Globalists, as part of Hyatt’s new Milestone Rewards. Guest of Honor benefits may include room upgrades (including suites), club lounge access, complimentary breakfast, and early and late check-in/out (subject to availability).

But how does this help me while I’m striving to get 60 elite qualifying nights to reclaim Globalist status?

When you give away your Guest of Honor award to someone else, you will receive 1 elite credit per stay. Since I still have 2 Guest of Honor awards in my account, I plan to give them to friends or family who have upcoming stays at a Hyatt hotel before the year ends.

By doing so, I will likely earn 2 more elite nights, which will help me get closer to my goal of reaching 60 elite nights towards Globalist status.

3. Spending on the World of Hyatt Credit Card

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is an effective tool for earning elite nights and achieving or retaining elite status. As a World of Hyatt cardholder, you receive 5 automatic elite night credits to start the year.

In addition, the card provides an additional 2 elite nights for every $5,000 spent on it. That means I could conceivably spend almost $135,000 per year on the World of Hyatt card to acquire the 55 additional elite nights needed to reach 60 and become Globalist.

While I would never do this because I prioritize opening new cards and meeting minimum requirements to earn welcome bonus offers throughout the year, the ability to spend on my World of Hyatt card and increase my elite night count through everyday spending is a huge advantage in my efforts to requalify for Globalist status.

I plan to review my spending and see how close I am to the next $5,000 spend requirement for the additional 2 elite nights. If I need more elite nights, I’ll shift part of my normal everyday spending to the World of Hyatt card for the remainder of the year to reach the finish line.

4. Prioritizing Hyatt Stays for End-of-Year Travels

I love to plan, so I typically start plotting out my travel about a year in advance. That may appear to be quite far ahead for many individuals, but I must say, it serves as a valuable tool for me. Not only does it help in organizing my life with 3 school-aged children, but it also aids in strategically planning my elite nights.

Fortunately, I still have a few trips remaining this year where I haven’t booked a hotel yet. If I find myself needing to earn a few more elite night credits after trying out my other 3 strategies, I might consider booking a Hyatt hotel instead of booking an Airbnb or a room with another hotel brand. This way, I can make sure that I reach the required 60 nights to requalify for Globalist status before December 31, 2024.

Final Thoughts

I still have a few months to fulfill the 60-night requirement to achieve World of Hyatt Globalist status until February 2026. All told, I’m fairly optimistic that I’ll meet this goal by combining the 4 strategies I outlined in this article without having to do a mattress run. I’ll reuse a similar strategy next year when it’s time to start thinking about qualifying for Globalist status again.
