Kanas City International Airport (MCI) travelers will soon have another lounge, as a new Escape Lounge is set to open this winter.

Here’s what you need to know.

New Lounge Opening This Winter at MCI

Escape Lounges, a pay-per-visit airport lounge network in the U.S., United Kingdom, and Australia, will open a lounge at Kansas City Airport (MCI).

The lounge will be located in the new Concourse A North near Gate A5 and open to all travelers. The amenities will include a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, power outlets, Wi-Fi access, and up-to-date flight information.

Vantage Group, the company behind the project, says construction is “underway” on the lounge. It is expected to open this winter; however, an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.

“A pay-per-visit premium lounge experience available to all passengers will further round out the Kansas City-inspired experience we’re delivering at our terminal,” said Kansas City Director of Aviation Melissa Cooper. “Whether guests are traveling alone on business or with family or friends, Escape Lounges will provide another great option for a great pre-flight experience at MCI.”

Bottom Line:

The new Escape Lounge will be a welcome addition for Kansas City travelers. Right now, passengers have access to just 1 major lounge, the 11,000+ square-foot Delta Sky Club lounge, which opened last year. The airport also has a USO Lounge and a business center.

About Escape Lounges

Escape Lounges is a network of 21 lounges on 3 continents. They typically provide ample seating, space for working or meetings, and food and drinks.

Escape Lounges usually come with a pay-per-visit fee, usually around $45. But because the network is part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection, you can visit its lounges (and others) for free with the right credit card.

The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express are 2 cards that provide complimentary access to Escape Lounges as well as the following:

Final Thoughts

Kansas City’s Concourse A North is a new terminal, so it makes sense that the airport would add a brand-new lounge. Even better, it will be available to all travelers — regardless of airline or credit card — for a fee. But with cards such as the Amex Platinum card or Amex Business Platinum card, you can get into this lounge (when it opens) for free!
