Expedia Expands Lounge Access Benefit for Delayed Flights to Gold Status Tier

Expedia has announced that it is expanding one of its most valuable travel loyalty perks.

Expedia One Key Gold members now join Platinum members in receiving complimentary airport lounge access when a qualifying flight is delayed by 90 minutes or more.

Lounge Access Benefit Expanded to Gold Status Tier

Earlier this year, Expedia announced changes to its Expedia One Key loyalty program. Now it has announced more regarding lounge access for delayed flights to its elite members.

Under Expedia’s updated Flight Delay Access program, both eligible Expedia One Key Gold and Platinum members have access to an airport lounge or an alternative airport experience when their qualifying flight is delayed by 90 minutes or more.

This benefit is available only to members who book their flight through Expedia U.S. Up to 9 travelers on the same itinerary are eligible for this benefit.

When a qualifying delay is officially reported by the airline, Expedia will issue LoungeKey passes through its mobile app. Additionally, travelers will receive email and SMS notifications with a link to their lounge passes. Members can then display the QR code at participating lounges for access. Lounge passes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

The LoungeKey network includes more than 1,800 airport lounges and experiences worldwide, including spas, sleep pods, and participating airport bars and restaurants.

If a participating lounge or alternative airport experience is not available, Expedia will instead provide $20 in OneKeyCash for each registered traveler. The credit will be deposited into the member’s One Key account and can be used on Expedia and participating brands.

This benefit is available for qualifying flights booked through Expedia through December 31, 2027. It’s subject to the program’s terms and conditions.

The expansion is good news for One Key Gold members, as it provides more ways to get value from their status. Rather than spending a long delay at a crowded gate, eligible travelers can use a participating lounge or alternative airport experience at no additional cost.
