The ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has announced the launch of 3 new routes departing from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), in addition to resuming 2 routes that had been previously discontinued.
In addition to these new services, Frontier Airlines plans on making Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) a priority base airport. During the first year of Frontier’s operation out of Dallas-Fort Worth, the airline aims to hire hundreds of new crew members.
Here ’s what we know about Frontier’s latest network expansion out of Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth — 2 cities that are currently dominated by legacy carriers.
Frontier Brings 5 Routes to Atlanta
From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Frontier Airlines will start 3 new seasonal nonstop routes and bring back 2 routes that the airline had previously discontinued.
Starting in May 2023, Frontier will offer 3 new nonstop routes to Guatemala City (GUA), Santo Domingo (SDQ), and San Diego (SAN) from Atlanta (ATL). This will bring the number of international departures from Atlanta from 21 to 39 per week.
Also, in May, Frontier will restart2 seasonal nonstop flights between Atlanta and Ontario, California (ONT) and Salt Lake City (SLC).
Here are the start dates and frequencies of these routes:

“Atlanta is one of Frontier’s fastest growing markets,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial, Frontier Airlines. “We are proud to connect Atlanta to 10 international destinations and 28 U.S. destinations. We are working hard to make our already robust network at ATL even bigger and, in fact, by summer, Atlanta will be our third largest operation.”
To mark the launch of the new Atlanta routes, Frontier is offering one-way introductory fares as low as $79. The fares are good for nonstop travel on certain days of the week between May 11 and June 28, 2023.
However, we’ve found 1-way fares from Atlanta (ATL) to San Diego (SAN) for as little as $49 if you’re a member of Frontier’s Discount Den.
As a result of Frontier’s cheaper rates, Delta may be compelled to reduce their own fares on the routes in the name of competition.

The carrier intends to establish a new crew base at Dallas-Fort Worth and employing up to 120 pilots and 220 flight attendants in its first year of operation beginning in May 2023.
The opening of the new base signifies that Frontier will offer nonstop service from Dallas-Fort Worth to a wide variety of destinations and will serve 20 markets in total, including Montego Bay, Jamaica, by May 2023.
