Frontier Announces Formation of Crew Base in San Juan

Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines announced that it would open a new crew base at San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in June 2024.

Frontier is expanding its presence in Puerto Rico with its new crew base and says it is the fastest-growing airline on the island.

Frontier serves 14 destinations from San Juan, including Atlanta (ATL), Miami (MIA), and Philadelphia (PHL), among several others. Additionally, the airline offers nonstop flights between Orlando (MCO) and Aguadilla (BQN) and Ponce (PSE).

Frontier said the expansion will add 290 flight attendant and pilot positions and generate nearly $84 million annually in local wages.

“A crew base also helps support smooth flight operations — benefiting customers flying to and from the island who will have access to a wide variety of destinations, including a number of underserved markets, as we continue to grow our Puerto Rico operations,” said Frontier CEO Barry Biffle.
