Low-cost Frontier Airlines has shared details of an update to its Frontier Miles loyalty program, which reduces the threshold for earning top-tier Elite Diamond status.

Additionally, the airline is boosting earnings rates for those who hold its co-branded credit card, introducing new elite perks, and will unveil a new set of milestone rewards for 2027.

Let’s take a look at all the details.

Frontier Reduces Threshold for Earning Diamond Status and Boosts Earnings

Starting in the 2027 elite qualification year, Frontier Airlines will reduce the number of elite status points needed to earn top-tier Diamond status from 100,000 to 75,000.

The current thresholds for earning Silver, Gold, and Platinum status remain unchanged.

In addition to reducing the requirements for earning top-tier Diamond status, Frontier is boosting earnings rates across the board for purchasing economy, premium, or business bundles for tickets purchased on or after September 1, 2026.

Here’s a look at how you’ll earn miles and elite status points if you don’t have the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard®:

  • Frontier Miles member: 6x (1x for basic fare purchases)
  • Silver member: 8x (3x for basic fare purchases)
  • Gold member: 10x (5x for basic fare purchases)
  • Platinum member: 12x (7x for basic fare purchases)
  • Diamond member: 16x (11x for basic fare purchases)

If you do have the Frontier Airlines World card, your earnings for purchasing bundled fares are significantly higher:

  • Frontier Miles member: 12x (4x for basic fare purchases)
  • Silver member: 14x (6x for basic fare purchases)
  • Gold member: 16x (8x for basic fare purchases)
  • Platinum member: 18x (10x for basic fare purchases)
  • Diamond member: 22x (14x for basic fare purchases)

As a reminder, if you do hold the Frontier Airlines World card, you’ll also earn 5 miles and 1 elite status points per $1 spent on eligible Frontier Airlines purchases. That’s on top of the above rates.

New Elite Perks and Milestone Rewards Coming Next Year

Starting January 1, 2027, Frontier Miles elite members will enjoy additional perks at each status level, including complimentary premium upgrades starting at Silver status (subject to availability). Here’s what you can expect at each level:

Elite Silver (Requires 15,000 Elite Status Points)

  • Complimentary upgrades to UpFront Plus or first class seating starting at 4 hours before departure if you purchase an economy or premium bundle (subject to availability)
  • Complimentary upgrades to preferred seating if you purchase an economy bundle (subject to availability)
  • Group 4 boarding
  • Access to family pooling
  • Priority customer care

  • Complimentary upgrades to preferred seating for everyone on your reservation if you purchase an economy bundle (subject to availability)
  • Complimentary carry-on bag for each person on your reservation
  • Waived fees for pets in the cabin
  • 1 complimentary checked bag up to 50 pounds for each person on your reservation
  • 2 companion certificates

Elite Diamond (Requires 75,000 Elite Status Points)

All Silver, Gold, and Platinum benefits, plus:

  • Complimentary upgrades to UpFront Plus or first class seating starting at 24 hours before departure if you purchase an economy or premium bundle (subject to availability)
  • Up to 2 free checked bags up to 50 pounds each for each person on your reservation
  • Unlimited companion travel
  • Preboarding privileges

Finally, for the 2027 status year, Frontier will introduce milestone rewards, which are additional perks for eligible members on top of the elite benefits they’re already entitled to. The airline said it will share more information regarding milestone rewards as we get closer to next year.

Hot Tip:

These aren’t all the improvements this low-cost carrier is making. Frontier is also installing high-speed Stalink inflight Wi-Fi early next year.

Final Thoughts

Frontier Airlines is making fairly significant changes to its loyalty program. First, it’s now easier to qualify for top-tier Diamond status. Next, boosted earnings rates go into effect on September 1. Then, starting next year, elite members will be able to enjoy new perks and milestone rewards.

Clearly, the airline is making a play to assert itself as the nation’s preeminent low-cost carrier in the wake of Spirit Airlines’ collapse, and these improvements suggest the carrier is serious about attracting former Spirit loyalists and new flyers to its brand.
