Hilton has just opened a new hotel in the Dominican Republic — and rates are looking pretty good for a popular island destination.

Here’s what you need to know.

Hilton Garden Inn La Romana Now Open for Guests

The opening of the 130-room Hilton Garden Inn La Romana marks the brand’s debut in the Dominican Republic.

Each room features a private balcony with views of La Romana or Catalina Island.

Dining options include a bar and grill and a 24-hour grab-and-go station. Amenities include an infinity pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and 9,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The hotel is just a 20-minute drive from La Romana International Airport (LRM), which has nonstop service to Miami (MIA) on the low-cost RED Air.

Otherwise, you’ll want to fly into Santo Domingo/Las Américas International Airport (SDQ), which is a 90-minute drive to the hotel. You can fly nonstop to SDQ from airports such as Boston (BOS), New York (JFK), and Orlando (MCO).

“With more than 970 hotels worldwide, and Hilton’s largest pipeline in the Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton Garden Inn continues to showcase remarkable growth in the region,” said Alan Roberts, Hilton Garden Inn Brand Leader. “Today, we are thrilled to bring the brand’s hallmark open, inviting atmosphere and best-in-class service to the Dominican Republic.”

Hilton currently has nearly 30 hotels and resorts open across the Caribbean and an additional 30 hotels in the pipeline.

How To Book The Hilton Garden Inn La Romana

The Hilton Garden Inn La Romana is now open for guests, and award nights are reasonable for a hotel in the popular Caribbean country.

The Hilton Honors program no longer uses an award chart, instead adopting variable award pricing. This means award nights can be cheaper or more expensive rates depending on when you travel.

Award nights at the Hilton Garden Inn La Romana start at just 30,000 Hilton Honors points (for a standard room redemption) through the end of the year.

Still, it’s extremely easy to earn Hilton Honors points. Hilton offers several co-branded credit cards, all of which have generous welcome bonuses. And, members can transfer points from American Express, ride with Lyft, or dine out.

Final Thoughts

A new hotel opening, especially in the Caribbean, is always welcome news. It’s even better when award rates are reasonably priced like we see here at the Hilton Garden Inn La Romana. If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, this hotel should definitely be on your list!
