Several new hotels opened or were announced this week, from as close as Philadelphia to as far away as Saudi Arabia.

Hotel Openings

The Bellevue Hotel, Philadelphia

The Bellevue Hotel, a historic landmark dating back to the early 1900s, has reopened in Philadelphia as part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. It now has 184 guest rooms, including 39 suites and a 1,800-square-foot Presidential Suite.

Amenities include a rooftop restaurant, meeting and event spaces, and 100,000 square feet of wellness space, which includes an indoor track, a 4-lane lap pool, and a hot and cold plunge pool. The hotel is a 20-minute drive to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and 15 minutes from Lincoln Financial Field — the home of Super Bowl LIX Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

World of Hyatt fans now have another option for earning and redeeming points in the City of Brotherly Love. Hyatt has a small footprint in Philadelphia. This is just the second hotel in the city proper, following the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia

Hotel Spero, Vignette Collection, San Francisco

Another historic hotel on the list, Hotel Spero was initially constructed in 1924 and is on the National Register of Historic Places in San Francisco. The hotel is located near San Francisco’s Union Station and has 236 guestrooms and 23 suites. Amenities include a restaurant, 5 meeting rooms, co-working spaces, a fitness center, and pet-friendly rooms.

This is Vignette Collection’s first hotel on the West Coast, but it won’t be the last. IHG plans to open a Vignette Collection property in Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine region in the future.

Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin, Germany

Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin, has opened with a whopping 427 guest rooms and suites, some with furnished balconies and views of the Berlin Cathedral. Among the most interesting features of the hotel is a “Living Tree” vertical garden — a 78-foot structure — in the lobby.

It has nearly 2,000 plants and is meant to enhance the hotel’s air quality and absorb noise. Amenities include a restaurant and bar, a spa and wellness area, an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a fitness center, and 15 conference rooms. 

Relais de La Malmaison, a member of Radisson Individuals, France

Not to be outdone by the new hotel in Berlin, Radisson also recently opened another property in France. Le Relais de La Malmaison, a member of Radisson Individuals, is located just 15 minutes from Paris and steps from the River Seine. The hotel has just 88 guest rooms and suites, each with private balconies. The hotel is wellness-focused. Guests can enjoy a fitness center, spa treatments, sauna, hammam, hot tub, indoor swimming pool, and a nearby golf course. Le Relais de La Malmaison has 2 on-site restaurants and bars and 12 event spaces.

This hotel is a solid choice for travelers who want to be near Paris without paying the often sky-high hotel prices found in the city. Rates here usually hover between $90 and $130 per night — an excellent deal for the region.

Hampton by Hilton Sandton Grayston, South Africa

Hilton is expanding its presence in South Africa. The hotel giant recently opened Hampton by Hilton Sandton Grayston in Johannesburg, making it the brand’s 150th property in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) region.

The hotel is 18 miles from Johannesburg’s O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and is near the city’s financial and shopping districts and attractions, such as Sandton City Mall and Nelson Mandela Square. Guests can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast, an on-site restaurant, a fitness center, and an outdoor courtyard.

JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa Reopens For the Season

The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa is set to welcome guests again as it reopens on February 26, 2025. The resort will kick off the 2025 season with a luxe lineup of events, including events with chefs, wellness masterclasses, and more.

  • Typical Points Cost: From 56,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night

First French Vignette Collection Hotel (2026)

IHG announced this week that it will open its first Vignette Collection hotel in France next year. The hotel will be set across 2 existing hotels —  Tiara Miramar and Tiara Yaktsa — in the village of Théoule sur Mer, France. Amenities will include Michelin-starred dining, several swimming pools, a gym, a spa, a bar, meeting spaces, and access to walking trails and watersports.

Holiday Inn Express Hat Yai (2027)

IHG will open a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Hat Yai, Thailand, in 2027. Not much is known about the hotel yet, but it will have 160 guest rooms, an all-day cafe, a fitness center, and meeting facilities.

IHG’s Regent Brand Coming to the Holy City of Makkah

IHG has announced plans to open the Regent Makkah and will have views of the Holy Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, and Al Kaaba. The hotel will have 330 guest rooms and suites, several restaurants, a spa, and a wellness center.

Final Thoughts

This week saw a ton of exciting news, from the opening of the second Hyatt hotel in Philadelphia to the opening of 2 new Radisson hotels in Berlin and outside Paris. As always, we’ll be back next week with more news from around the hotel industry!
