July started strong with a handful of new hotel and resort openings in Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Montenegro. Additionally, some of the world’s top hotel brands, including Waldorf Astoria and Park Hyatt, are expanding in Finland, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries.

Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, Dominican Republic

Sarena de Muro Resort Mallorca, Spain

Hyatt’s new Sarena de Muro Resort Mallorca has 184 guest rooms and suites. The resort offers a full slate of amenities to keep guests entertained, relaxed, and well-fed. You’ll find several dining options, a spa with a hydrotherapy area, massage and treatment rooms, 2 pools, and a fitness center.

Rixos Obhur Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Ennismore’s high-end Rixos brand has made its debut in Saudi Arabia with the opening of the Rixos Obhur Jeddah. The resort is Saudi Arabia’s first all-inclusive, offering 176 rooms and suites plus 74 private villas

Radisson Resort Ruža Vjetrova, Montenegro

It’s not every day that we hear about new points hotels opening in Montenegro. Radisson Resort Ruža Vjetrova has officially opened in the Balkan country, and it’s stunning. Located along the Adriatic coast in Dobra Voda, Montenegro, this resort features 170 guest rooms and suites, many of which offer private balconies with stunning sea views

Fairmont Tokyo, Japan

Accor’s high-end Fairmont brand has made its arrival in Japan with the opening of the Fairmont Tokyo. Situated between the 36th and 42nd floors, the Fairmont Tokyo has 217 rooms, including 29 suites

True to the brand, the hotel offers some of the best amenities available in a hotel, including 7 food and beverage options, a 35th-floor spa, a 24-hour gym equipped with Technogym equipment, an indoor infinity pool, and an outdoor sundeck.

 Le Méridien Ahmedabad, India

Marriott recently converted the Courtyard by Marriott Ahmedabad into the swanky  Le Méridien Ahmedabad. The hotel has 164 guest rooms and suites, 5 food and beverage options, a spa, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool.

Upcoming Hotels

Waldorf Astoria Helsinki, Finland (2025)

Some huge news from Finland this week: Hilton has inked a deal for The Hotel Maria in Helsinki, which will be re-flagged as the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki. While the hotel remains open for guests, it will join the Waldorf Astoria portfolio later this year. 

The 116-room hotel will have a restaurant, a bar, a fitness studio, and a Nordic wellness spa with a Finnish sauna. However, this hotel holds a significant distinction for Hilton, set to become the first Waldorf Astoria property in the Nordics. 

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (August 2025)

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is accepting reservations for later this summer. Situated on the top floors of Merdeka 118, the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific, the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will offer 252 guest rooms and suites. The hotel will offer several restaurants and bars, a spa, and an infinity pool.

A Category 5 hotel, award nights at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur cost between 17,000 and 23,000 World of Hyatt points nightly.

The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton, United Kingdom (2026)

The Derby London City, Curio Collection by Hilton will feature 237 guest rooms, including 10 suites. This property will be the Curio Collection’s 10th in the United Kingdom, which is a significant indicator of the brand’s growing presence in the country. Amenities will include an all-day restaurant, a coffee house and bar, a 24-hour gym, and private dining facilities. 

Waldorf Astoria Bali, Indonesia (2027)

The ultra-luxe Waldorf Astoria brand is expanding its footprint in the Asia Pacific. This week, Hilton announced plans for the Waldorf Astoria Bali, set to open in 2027. The resort will have 71 villas and 68 suites. Hilton is keeping mum about the resort; however, we know it will offer “immersive cultural experiences to destination dining and a chic beach club.”

Six Senses Bangkok, Thailand (2028)

The Six Senses Bangkok is scheduled to open in 2028. Set on the site of the historic Narai Hotel, which first opened in 1968, the hotel will offer “around” 100 guest rooms and suites. The hotel will include a signature restaurant, a rooftop pool, and a spa. When it opens, Six Senses Bangkok will be the brand’s third hotel in Thailand, after the Six Senses Samui and Six Senses Yao Noi.

Marriott Expands in Calgary

Marriott announced this week that it would open 3 new hotels in Calgary — the W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and an Autograph Collection Hotel — later this decade. Here’s what to know about each property:

  • Autograph Collection (2028): Marriott said that the name for this hotel will be revealed at a later date, but the hotel will feature 320 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Amenities will include several restaurants, a lobby bar, a coffee shop, a rooftop lounge, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
  • W Calgary (2029): This hotel will have 157 guest rooms, including 27 suites, and amenities such as the signature AWAY Spa, Living Room, a FIT studio, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar.
  • JW Marriott Calgary (2030): This hotel will span 62 stories, offering 248 guest rooms and 120 residences. Amenities will include an indoor and outdoor pool, the brand’s signature JW Market, the JW Garden, and more.

Final Thoughts

The month of July began strong, with exciting new hotel openings in Spain, Japan, Montenegro, and beyond. Additional hotel openings are on the horizon, including a Waldorf Astoria in Helsinki and the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
