After announcing the Hyatt Regency Panama City in late 2023 — with an original opening date scheduled for 2024 — Central America’s first Hyatt Regency is now open.

Here’s everything you need to know!

Hyatt Regency Panama City Opens

Hyatt Regency Panama City has 382 guest rooms spread across 2 towers, and the hotel is participating in the World of Hyatt program.

In addition, guests can find several restaurants, a pool, a gym, and an outdoor event terrace.

As you’ll often find with the Hyatt Regency brand, the hotel also sports a club lounge offering free breakfast, afternoon snacks, and happy hour to eligible guests (including those with World of Hyatt Globalist status).

Catering to business and leisure travelers, the hotel is near a shopping mall and convention center and less than 10 miles from Tocumen International Airport (PTY).

“The opening of Hyatt Regency Panama City marks a key moment in Hyatt’s global brand growth strategy, solidifying the brand’s presence in this vibrant and rapidly developing region,” said Richard Westell, the hotel’s general manager.

Booking the Hyatt Regency Panama City

The Hyatt Regency Panama is a Category 3 hotel, which means it can be booked for 12,000 points per night during standard dates — though it can cost as little as 9,000 points or as much as 15,000 points per night, due to Hyatt’s peak and off-peak pricing. This hotel also can be an excellent use of the Category 1-4 free night certificate you get each year by holding The World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Otherwise, room rates hover just under $200 per night.

Those looking to apply a Suite Upgrade Award (SUA) have the choice of 2 standard suites, one of which is noticeably larger than the other.

To celebrate its debut, the Hyatt Regency Panama has a Grand Opening Offer:

  • Up to 20% off room rates
  • Valid for stays between April 6 and June 1, 2025
  • Book by March 31, 2025
Hot Tip:

While it’s not the easiest to earn World of Hyatt points, if you have a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points, you can transfer them to World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

The opening of the Hyatt Regency Panama City is excellent news for World of Hyatt fans, who now have the option to book a higher-end property in the city. Affordably priced, the hotel offers a wide variety of amenities, plus a club lounge and suites for elite members.
