Irritated by recent changes announced by Southwest Airlines? Have A-List or A-List Preferred elite status with Rapid Rewards? If so, JetBlue wants your attention.

Multiple airlines are offering promotions and status matches to attract Southwest flyers looking to switch their loyalty to a new airline. To that end, JetBlue has improved its status match offer for Southwest’s elite members.

Here are the details.

New Status Match Offer From Southwest to JetBlue

Jetblue isn’t the only airline trying to poach customers who are disappointed by Southwest’s recent changes. Both American Airlines and Delta Air Lines have upped their status match offers to woo Southwest elites.

JetBlue has an ongoing status match offer, letting elite members from other airlines match into the TrueBlue program. This is available to elite flyers from American Airlines, Delta, Alaska Airlines, and multiple other airlines. That’s not new.

What’s new is the improved offer targeting Southwest Rapid Rewards members who have A-List or A-List Preferred elite status. Previously, these members could only match to Mosaic 1 — the lowest of JetBlue’s 4 elite status tiers. Now, Southwest’s elite members can match to Mosaic 2, offering additional benefits.

You’ll need a JetBlue TrueBlue account and must submit the following to request your status match:

  • A screenshot showing both your current elite status tier and your full name together
  • Proof of a recent flight with the airline with your status indicated on the booking confirmation email or boarding pass

It can take up to 4 weeks to process your status match, and you’ll get confirmation once it’s been reviewed.

If your status match is approved, you’ll get status with JetBlue for 3 months. To keep your status, you’ll need to earn tiles — JetBlue’s metric for earning status. The requirements are as follows:

  • 10 tiles within 3 months to keep Mosaic 1 status
  • 25 tiles to keep Mosaic 2 status
  • 40 tiles to earn Mosaic 3 status

You have 3 months from the date your status match is approved (not the day you applied) to meet these requirements.

Hot Tip:

JetBlue awards tiles, and that’s the only thing that matters for earning Mosaic elite status. There are multiple ways to earn tiles for JetBlue status, including JetBlue flights, JetBlue Vacations, and spending on JetBlue’s credit cards. You can even buy tiles if needed.

What’s the Difference Between Mosaic 1 and Mosaic 2?

You might wonder what extra perks you get with this improved status match. Great question.

You’ll enjoy the following benefits with Mosaic 1:

  • Priority boarding
  • Priority security (where available)
  • Dedicated check-in
  • First 2 checked bags free
  • Free beer, wine, or liquor (up to 3 per flight)
  • Dedicated 24/7 Mosaic phone line
  • Ability to upgrade to an Even More Space seat for free at check in.

JetBlue has also preselected Mint Suite Priority as the “Perks You Pick” for those who status match to the Mosaic 1 tier.

Mosaic 2 members get these additional perks:

  • Upgrade to Even More Space seats at booking (rather than waiting for check-in)
  • The “Perks You Pick” for matched Mosaic 2 members are Mint Suite Priority and a pet waiver fee

Final Thoughts

U.S. airlines are betting that some Southwest customers aren’t happy with recent changes from their preferred airline, and they’re hoping those flyers are looking for a new airline to call their favorite. JetBlue is offering an improved status match for A-List and A-List Preferred members who want to leave Southwest behind, now letting them match to Mosaic 2, which offers additional benefits above the previous offer of Mosaic 1 status.
