Marriott has finally debuted the ultra-luxe JW Marriott brand on a popular island in Greece.

Here’s everything you need to know about this new resort, which is now open. The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa can be booked with either cash or Marriott Bonvoy points.

The First JW Marriott Hotel in Greece

The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa has 160 guest rooms, suites, and villas. All suites and villas offer either a private pool or a Jacuzzi.

The hotel spans 100 acres and includes 4 dining options, 2 bars, multiple pools, a fitness center, a beach club, a spa, and Family by JW experiences.

This is the debut of the JW Marriott brand in Greece. The brand is a nod to Marriott’s founder, J. Willard “J.W.” Marriott, who cared deeply about his own well-being. Today, the JW Marriott brand focuses on guests’ well-being, offering high-end amenities, spas, and fine dining.

“Greece remains as one of the most attractive destinations for today’s global traveler, and the signing of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa reflects the continued demand we are seeing for luxury accommodation across the country,” says Jerome Briet, Marriott’s chief development officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

How To Book

The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa has now opened for guests. Rooms start at €283 ($327) in October, but staying at this hotel in June or July will cost €400 or more ($463) per night.

Rooms can also be booked with Marriott Bonvoy points. Nightly rates start at 44,000 points, but that rate is only available a few months into the future. Rates in June and July average 74,000 points per night.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy points is extremely easy. You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, and Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio or open a Marriott Bonvoy credit card, of which there are several. These cards come with sizable welcome bonus offers and some form of Marriott Bonvoy elite status.

Like many major hotel chains, Marriott ditched its award chart a few years ago. Instead, Marriott uses dynamic pricing, which means award prices can depend on various factors like holidays, occupancy, and the nightly cash price.
