Marriott International is set to open another luxury safari lodge in Africa, this time in the Serengeti in Tanzania.

The forthcoming luxury lodge will boast an ideal location for viewing wildlife phenomena like The Great Migration and The Big 5.

Keep reading to learn more about the JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge.

The JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge

The JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge will debut in 2026. When it opens, it will be the second luxury safari lodge on the African continent after the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge, which opened in Kenya earlier this year. In addition to this new property, Marriott also has plans for 5 more Protea hotels on the continent.

The JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge will feature just 30 private suites, each outfitted with a swimming pool and deck area. There are also plans for on-site food, beverage, and meeting facilities.

The lodge will be located in The Serengeti International Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Specifically, it will be found between the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, 2 important rivers to The Great Migration. The Serengeti is also home to “The Big 5” animals — African elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and rhinoceros.

Travelers will be able to reach the camp by flying to the Grumeti airstrip and then a 25-minute car ride. Alternatively, they can fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and then take another domestic flight to an airstrip within the Serengeti. Finally, travelers could choose an 8-hour drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport which promises to be full of beautiful scenery and wildlife.

How To Book The JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge

The JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge is not yet available to book. Once it does become available, you can book directly on the hotel’s website with either cash or Marriott Bonvoy points.

This is sure to be a bucket-list vacation for many and it’s never too early to start saving the points you’ll need to redeem a stay. Several Marriott Bonvoy credit cards are currently offering elevated welcome bonuses that are worth considering.

And, you can transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy at a 1:1 ratio.
