IHG has announced the signing of a new resort in Spain, the Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella.

Let’s take a look at this hotel!

The Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella will have 178 guest rooms and suites. The property will also feature 4 restaurants and bars, 2 swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts, a spa, as well as meeting space.

For travelers looking for an option close to an airport, you’ll have several options. The hotel will be a 40-minute drive from Malaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) and an hour drive from Gibraltar International Airport (GIB).

The hotel, formerly “The Hotel Los Monteros – Spa & Golf Resort Marbella,” will open to guests in the next few years after a complete renovation — and as part of the Kimpton portfolio.

“We are delighted to have grown our Kimpton brand portfolio in Spain to three properties with the signing of Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella,” Willemijn Geels, VP of Development, Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said. “We can’t wait to complete the full renovation of this outstanding hotel, and begin to welcome guests in the next few years.”

Booking Hotels in Spain With IHG One Rewards Points

The hotel is expected to participate in the IHG One Rewards program when it opens in the coming years, though it’s not yet clear how many points will be required to stay there.

But don’t worry: IHG has a pretty significant presence in Spain, which is unsurprising given the close location to its headquarters in the UK. The chain has nearly 50 hotels under 8 brands in Spain, including Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and others. An additional 13 hotels are currently in the pipeline in Spain.

That means you have more than enough options to earn and redeem points for a stay across the country, including at high-end hotels such as the InterContinental Madrid, Kimpton Vividora Hotel, and Hotel Indigo Barcelona.

Bottom Line:

Earning IHG One Rewards points is relatively straightforward. The hotel chain offers 2 personal and 1 business credit card, all issued by Chase. Another way to earn points is by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Anytime a hotel chain announces a new resort, especially in a hip destination like the south of Spain, it’s always great news for travelers. Unfortunately, we don’t know too many details about the resort, as it’s currently under renovation. But in the meantime, be sure to check out IHG’s other luxury hotels in Spain!
