Kimpton Hotels, a brand under the IHG portfolio, regularly offers the ability for guests to earn cool giveaways, prizes, and stay perks simply by saying a rotating “social password” when checking in.

The brand has just released its password for stays this summer, which can get you some pretty neat things.

What Is Kimpton’s Social Password?

When you check in to any Kimpton property between June 1 and September 2, 2024, simply tell the front desk agent the password “Good for the Sol,” and you’ll receive any number of perks throughout your stay.

The front desk agent should know what you’re talking about, but if you specifically tell them that you’re letting them know about the Kimpton social password, you should be good to go.

What Does the Kimpton Social Password Get You?

The whole point of the Kimpton social password is to increase engagement between the customer and hotel, so they can vary in perks. Some examples can include:

  • Complimentary parking, which, for hotels that charge for parking, can be an enormous value, especially when staying for multiple nights
  • Complimentary breakfast, which normally isn’t offered to Kimpton Inner Circle members, but is now offered at the IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite level as a welcome amenity
  • Complimentary upgrades, which at some Kimpton hotels include enormous suites
  • A bottle of wine, which, for anyone who has stayed at a Kimpton before, will usually be one from the nightly complimentary wine reception
  • Free IHG One Rewards points (remember, Kimpton Hotels is an IHG brand and you can earn and redeem IHG One Rewards points)
  • Complimentary cocktails at the bar
  • Similar to the complimentary breakfast, a food, and beverage credit to be used at an on-site restaurant
  • A welcome amenity, such as a snack or drink
  • Free in-room movies

If you’re a top-tier Inner Circle member, your reward for saying the social password is usually better than the gifts given to a non-elite member!

Most properties will get creative with the benefits, rarely offering something “cookie cutter.” They usually like to have fun with these, so expect to see some other offerings in the mix.

Hot Tip:

Sometimes, you’re allowed to switch perks! For instance, if you’re given an upgrade but you’ve already upgraded, you might be given a replacement benefit.

Final Thoughts

Kimpton hotels are located in most major cities and the brand has recently expanded to an international footprint. If you’ve got a Kimpton stay booked this summer, be sure to use the social password “Good for the Sol” when checking in so that you can receive a free surprise.
