American Express recently launched a new promotion for cardholders of one of its co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. With the promotion, cardholders have the opportunity to earn extra points on 4 select purchase categories. Here is everything you need to know:

Marriott Bonvoy Bonus Point Promotion Details

From July 14, 2021, through September 15, 2021, existing cardholders of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant^® American Express^® Card and Marriott Bonvoy American Express^® Card (no longer available for new applications) can earn 4 additional Marriott Bonvoy points, for a total of 6 points per $1, on purchases in the following categories:

• Car rentals purchased directly from select car rental companies
• Flights booked directly with airlines
• Gas at U.S. gas stations
• Transit, including purchases on taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, and buses

Cardholders can earn up to 10,000 points in each category, for a total of up to 40,000 points through September 30, 2021. To enroll in the promotion, simply head to the promotion sign-up page, then enter your card account number and 4-digit CID number. Then simply used your enrolled card for these bonus purchases.

Those who are able to max out the promotion and earn all 40,000 points would have enough for a free night at any Category 5 Marriott hotel of their choosing — even on peak nights!
