Adventure-focused travel in the great outdoors has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years, resulting in a shift in the way many people plan their travels.

The world’s largest hotel chain has noticed a significant shift in preferences and is responding by launching a new platform, known as Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, dedicated to helping members plan memorable outdoor-focused journeys, from booking to new experiences during stays. Additionally, it has unveiled an entirely new brand, the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy.

There’s a lot more to discuss, so let’s dive right in.

Marriott Doubles Down on Outdoor Travel With New Brand

Marriott has launched a new dedicated website for its outdoor-focused portfolio. When you visit marriottbonvoyoutdoors.com, you’ll find information on over 450 outdoor-focused hotels, more than 50,000 Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy properties, and even curated tours and activities.

Travelers can filter their search by preferred outdoor activities — such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, paddling, fishing, diving, and surfing — and the search engine will return results that offer direct access or proximity to the chosen activity.

The new Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy brand is a collection of properties, similar in concept to Marriott’s Autograph Collection and Luxury Collection brands, that aggregates “outdoor-focused, design-forward stays in remarkable landscapes, from cabins tucked into woodlands near national parks to boutique hotels on cliffs’ edges.”

Initially, the Outdoor Collection will have 2 brands under its umbrella: Postcard Cabins and Trailborn Hotels, both of which recently signed agreements with Marriott. Postcard Cabins offers camping-style stays in small cabins in 29 U.S. destinations, most of which are close to major cities but feel far off the beaten path.

Trailborn, on the other hand, is a boutique hotel brand that blends incredible architecture, design, and elevated dining and cultural experiences with easy access to some of the most jaw-dropping natural areas in the U.S.

Marriott says “ecolodges, yurts, domes, and other unique escapes” will be added to the Outdoor Collection in the future. Additionally, bookings made through the platform will earn points at the same rate as those for any other Marriott property.

Outdoor Experiences Beyond Booking

In 2026, guests staying at Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors hotels, including at Outdoor Collection properties, will have access to benefits provided via a partnership with Outside Interactive during stays.

Members can link their Marriott Bonvoy accounts with Outside+ accounts and receive bonus points and access to exclusive content on the Outside+ mobile app (iOS, Android), including trail maps, bonus points, and more. Marriott says further partnerships and benefits will be announced soon.

This partnership will also lead to unique Marriott Bonvoy Moments focusing on nature and adventure. One example is a directed photoshoot in Hawaii, during which guests will learn how to take National Geographic-level photos in incredible natural settings.

A 10 Million-Point Giveaway

To celebrate its new foray into outdoor travel and its new brand, Marriott has partnered with Dylan Efron, a self-proclaimed outdoor lover, to launch the Drop Pin Challenge, which will give away a staggering 10 million Marriott Bonvoy points.

Travelers can find physical pins, each worth 10,000 points, hidden in 20 destinations across North America. Efron has dropped his own pin near Postcard Cabin Big Bear, in California. The challenge runs from September 30 to October 31, 2025. There’s no limit on how many pins a person can find, but the same pin cannot be redeemed by the same person more than once.

Final Thoughts

Outdoor-centric trips are among the hottest trends in travel right now. Recognizing this reality, Marriott has made a push into the space by launching a new outdoor-focused platform and a new collection brand that helps travelers discover and book trips, as well as explore new experiences during their stays.

As an added bonus, you can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points like you would at any other Marriott property, making it easier than ever to get out into the great outdoors for a memorable vacation.
