Travelers booking through Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy now have a new layer of confidence when planning their next getaway — even during rainy vacations.

Marriott International has partnered with WeatherPromise, becoming the first global hotel company to offer weather protection for vacation rental stays.

Here’s what you need to know.

How Marriott’s Rain Protection Works

This new feature allows guests to purchase a WeatherPromise plan when booking a rental through Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy.

The way it works is if excessive rain hits during your stay, you could receive a cash payout — no need to file claims or debate weather reports. The system automatically tracks real-time weather using satellites, radar, and local stations to determine eligibility.

This move follows a similar partnership announced earlier by JetBlue Vacations, which teamed up with WeatherPromise to offer rain protection for travelers booking a Flight + Hotel package. That program provides partial reimbursements for travel expenses if inclement weather disrupts your trip — no paperwork required.

Each WeatherPromise is personalized for the stay based on the location and timing, with varying thresholds for what qualifies as “excessive rainfall.” Guests are offered the option after confirming their booking, and the protection is handled seamlessly.

“We’re proud to offer WeatherPromises to guests booking through Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy and helping to set a new standard for peace of mind in modern travel,” said Daniel Price, co-founder of WeatherPromise. “By joining forces, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy and WeatherPromise are providing added reassurance to customers booking through one of the world’s most trusted vacation rental platforms.

This move reflects a growing trend in travel — giving customers more peace of mind and flexibility. It’s designed to ease the hesitation many travelers feel when booking trips during rainy seasons or hurricane-prone months.

Hot Tip:

WeatherPromise isn’t included for free with Marriott Homes & Villas bookings — the cost will vary based on your specific rental and travel dates. Still, since most travel insurance plans and credit card protections don’t cover rain ruining your vacation, this add-on could be worth considering if you’re looking for extra peace of mind during a potentially wet getaway.

Final Thoughts

For Marriott Bonvoy members, this new feature adds even more value to booking through Homes & Villas, which is already a strong contender in the vacation rental space. While you can’t control the forecast, Marriott’s partnership with WeatherPromise puts peace of mind — and potential compensation — right in your hands.
