It had felt like an annual tradition. From February to April, Marriott Bonvoy members could get double elite night credits on Marriott stays — at least for the past 5 years.

Many people counted on this promotion to help reach their elite status goals with Marriott Bonvoy. I know I did, and I was mentally counting on it while planning my travels and status goals this year.

However, it looks like Marriott may not offer the promotion this year. That’s based on our inquiries with the hotel chain and an analysis of this offer across the past 5 years.

Here’s what we know and why we think the offer isn’t coming — at least not now.

Marriott’s Double Elite Nights Promotions in the Past 5 Years

As a quick recap, earning elite status with Marriott Bonvoy requires earning Elite Night Credits. While some Marriott brands offer fewer elite nights than others, most Marriott hotel brands give you credit for 1 night when you stay 1 night at a hotel. That’s true whether you paid cash or used points or free nights for your stay.

The more elite nights you earn in a year, the higher your status with Marriott Bonvoy.

From 2021 to 2025, Marriott offered a promotion that included 1,000 bonus points per night plus an extra Elite Night Credit for every night you stayed. The dates — both when the promotion was announced and the eligible stay dates — shifted slightly from year to year, but the core details were the same. You earned bonus points and an extra elite night for paid stays, and you could easily speed up your path to elite status through paid stays between February and April.

For example, the 2025 double elite nights promotion offered 1,000 bonus points and 1 bonus Elite Night Credit on paid stays (not award bookings) between February 11 and April 28, 2025. Registration was required by April 14, and you could earn up to 77 elite nights plus 77,000 bonus points during this offer.

That was the general theme of this offer, even if it shifted slightly from year to year:

Why We Think the Promotion Isn’t Happening This Year

Based on the dates from the past 5 years, Marriott never announced this promotion later than February 1. We’re several days past that.

Moreover, the eligible stays ranged from early or mid-February to the end of April. Based on past years, eligible stays for the promotion would probably start any day now. If Marriott were launching a massive promotion — which this is — for stays starting in the next few days, there would’ve been an announcement already. The average period from announcement to the promotion’s effective date was 2 weeks in the past.

We’ve asked Marriott’s corporate communications team multiple times if the offer is coming this year. None of our emails received a response.

Hot Tip:

If this is affecting your plans for Marriott Bonvoy elite status this year, it’s worth knowing that Marriott’s credit cards all offer some level of automatic elite status. They also offer bonus Elite Night Credits deposited into your account to help you reach higher status tiers with a nice boost. Adding one of these cards to your wallet could help in the absence of the double nights promotion.

Final Thoughts

We can’t say for certain that Marriott Bonvoy isn’t running its double nights promotion this year. It could happen at a later date than normal, and that may explain the delay and lack of communication.

However, based on past years, it seems highly unlikely that Marriott will run this promotion from February to April like we saw between 2021 and 2025. That’s a bummer for those of us who were counting on it, and we’ll need to adapt.
