Mastercard has teamed up with Instacart to offer cardholders, even those with debit cards, a couple of exciting benefits.

Here’s a look at the details and how you can activate them.

Mastercard Introduces Instacart Benefits, Even for Debit Cards

If you have a U.S. Mastercard product — including debit cards — you can activate 2 key Instacart benefits if you do so by January 31, 2027:

  • Get 3 months of free Instacart+ membership.
  • Receive $10 off the second qualifying Instacart order each month.

Of course, there are some terms to be aware of before you move forward:

  • You cannot be an existing Instacart+ member as of September 1, 2025.
  • In order to receive the $10 benefit, you must be enrolled in Instacart+ with your qualifying U.S. Mastercard and pay for the second order with that card.
  • The $10 coupon is applied automatically at checkout and cannot be used on prescriptions, alcohol, or restaurant orders.
  • The discount coupon expires at the end of each month and cannot be rolled over into future months.

Famously, Instacart has an existing partnership with Chase, which means that many people probably already have an Instacart+ membership. These people would be disqualified from receiving these benefits through Mastercard, as the terms state that you cannot be an Instacart+ member on or before September 1.

Still, many could be new to Instacart entirely or not have Chase cards offering this perk in their wallet. Alternatively, they could have participated in a free 3-month trial provided on numerous Chase products, but it may have expired before September 1, meaning they could qualify for a new round via a Mastercard product.

Finally, providing these benefits on Mastercard debit cards is a nice move that will open it up to more groups of people, such as college students who may not have a credit card yet. In fact, we could see these perks being especially popular on college campuses where many students don’t have their own cars to go grocery shopping regularly.

Hot Tip:

Final Thoughts

Mastercard has introduced Instacart benefits across its line of credit card and debit card products. There are some restrictions to note, but if you’re not already an Instacart+ member, this is an easy and helpful benefit to take advantage of. And if you’re not sure you’ll use it, you have all the way until January 2027 to decide!
