The Mondrian brand has been around for a few decades now, but it hasn’t exactly had a large footprint.

However, what it lacked in size, it made up for in personality. With hotels in hotspots around the world, the Mondrian brand has catered to young, stylish, and affluent guests with design-forward guest rooms, alluring public spaces, and bars that have become the place to see and be seen.

And now, the brand is embarking on a significant expansion. This year, Mondrian will open 4 new properties, 2 in 2024, and a further 8 in 2025, and beyond.

“From the moment the doors at Mondrian Los Angeles opened in the late nineties, guests connected with an electric energy and experience that was entirely new to hospitality. And once again it’s an exciting time for the Mondrian brand as it expands into new regions — the Middle East and Asia Pacific in particular — offering residences alongside hotels in several of the new locations,” said Chadi Farhat, Brand COO for Mondrian at Ennismore, the “lifestyle hospitality brand” that owns Mondrian.

Let’s take a look at what’s in store for the Mondrian brand.

What Is the Mondrian Brand?

You can find the Mondrian brand in 8 destinations around the world: Cannes, Doha, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, and Seoul.

The brand, according to a press release, strives to be “on the forefront of the world’s most exciting cultural scenes or fostering community and momentum in emerging hubs” with its “groundbreaking interiors, art installations, and inventive culinary experiences.”

And in the cities where the brand is already, the properties have made a name for themselves by attracting glamorous guests and locals alike, whether it’s for dinner or a high-octane party stretching late into the night.

Ennismore owns the Mondrian brand, and its properties participate in the ALL – Accor Live Limitless program.

Mondrian Hotel Openings in 2023 and Beyond

Mondrian has big plans to increase its scope over the next several years.

At the end of last year, it opened its first Latin American property. The Mondrian Mexico City Condesa is in the heart of the dynamic Mexican capital. It features 183 guest rooms and suites and 4 options for dining and drinking.

Mondrian Openings in 2023

2023 is poised to be a banner year for the Mondrian brand. In March, it opened its first property in France, the Mondrian Cannes, which boasts 75 guest rooms and suites, the Hyde Beach Club Cannes, a private beach, an American-Japanese seafood fusion restaurant, and more.

And there are 4 more properties scheduled to open around the world still in 2023. They include:

  • Mondrian Singapore Duxton: Slated to open in June 2023 in Singapore’s Duxton Hill neighborhood, it will have 302 rooms, a rooftop pool, several bars and restaurants, stunning views of Singapore’s skyline, and more.
  • Mondrian Ibiza: Opening this summer overlooking Cala Llonga and the Balearic Sea, it will boast 154 guest rooms, 2 pools with ocean views, a signature Japanese restaurant overlooking the bay, and access to the adjacent Hyde Ibiza resort.
  • Mondrian Hong Kong: Opening in “Q3 2023,” this will be the first Mondrian hotel in Greater China. Located in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood, it will offer jaw-dropping views of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong’s skyline, a 39th-floor Italian steakhouse, and more.
  • Mondrian Bordeaux: On pace for a fall 2023 opening, it will have 97 guest rooms housed in a 19th-century building. It will also have a full-service spa, expansive outdoor terrace, and a stunning bar and lounge.

Mondrian Openings in 2024 and 2025

Come next year, we can expect 2 new Mondrian properties to open: Mondrian Gold Coast in Australia and Mondrian Abu Dhabi in the U.A.E. In 2025, the Mondrian Tulum Hotel & Residences will become the brand’s second Mexican property. And finally, the Mondrian Riyadh will open in the Saudi Arabian capital in 2026.

We can expect there to be more announcements soon from the brand. A total of 8 properties will open in 2025, with more to come down the line.

Final Thoughts

Mondrian has always been a niche player in the hotel arena. Still, it’s developed a cult following over the years despite its small footprint.

This is the year that all begins to change. 2 new properties have already opened since the end of 2022, with 4 more scheduled for this year, and even more to come after that.

We’re looking forward to seeing the continued growth of this brand and can’t wait to try out some of these properties for ourselves!
