United Airlines has opened a behemoth of a lounge at its hub in Newark (EWR).

The brand-new, 30,000-square-foot United Club is the largest in its network, including those at the airline’s base in Chicago (ORD).

“As more and more customers return to the skies, United is committed to delivering a superior customer experience on and off the plane, especially in increasingly crowded airports,” said Aaron McMillan, Managing Director of Hospitality and Planning at United.

Here’s what you can expect from United’s swanky new offering.

United’s Largest Lounge Opens at Newark

You’ll find the freshest, largest, and arguably the best United Club at Newark’s Terminal C3, near gate C123.

At the entrance to the lounge, you’ll immediately notice the automated entry gates, meaning you can bypass the check-in desk and the long lines that typically form in front of them.

Not only is the lounge United’s largest with over 480 seats, but it’s the only lounge in the airline’s network to feature certain amenities such as enhanced shower suites and a “coffee shop experience” staffed by baristas.

The airline refers to the shower suites as “spa-like,” which makes us think they’re going to be a step (or 2) above what you’d find at a typical airline lounge.

And for coffee lovers, you’ll be excited to learn that the aforementioned baristas will serve you hand-crafted Illy coffees according to your preference. Say goodbye to those machines that never seem to make a proper cup.

Hot Tip: Gaining access to a United Club lounge is easier than you may have thought. Here’s a look at everything you need to know about United Clubs, including access policies, amenities, locations, and opening times.

The lounge’s design has been well thought out, with locally-sourced furnishings and décor at the heart of the space.

Guests visiting other United lounges across the network can expect similar upgrades coming soon.

“This design theme and commitment to creating a locally-inspired experience will set the precedent for future club openings and renovations across our network,” said McMillan.

There’s some notable art to keep an eye out for as well, including 2 murals by local artists Dahlia Elsayed and Gilbert Hsaio, which were installed in collaboration with The Newark Museum of Art and Gallery Affero.

Elsayed’s abstract textile piece is located within the main section of the lounge, while you’ll find Hsaio’s mural, which takes inspiration from United’s signature globe logo, at the Club’s entrance.

Final Thoughts

United is celebrating the return of travel with the opening of its best and largest United Club at one of its most important hubs.

By investing in its ground experience in this manner, it’s clear United is prioritizing its customer experience for its frequent flyers and airline loyalists, as they view the preflight experience as an integral part of any journey.

We can’t wait to check out this new space and give it a proper review!
