Alaska Airlines offers flyers a once-in-a-lifetime status match that allows them to sample Atmos Rewards elite status for 90 days.

With certain qualifying activity, you can extend elite status, usually through the end of the year.

However, now is the perfect time to apply for a status match that can extend your elite status benefits all the way through 2027 because we’re in the right part of the year. Here are all of the details.

Alaska Airlines Status Match Details

The process of applying for an elite status match with Alaska Airlines is very simple.

Essentially, so long as you already hold an elite status level with another eligible airline, you can submit a status match request that will provide you with Atmos Rewards Silver, Atmos Gold, or Atmos Platinum for 90 days, depending on the airline status level you already hold.

You can read more about the details of the process, eligible airlines, points needed to extend, and the like, in our dedicated guide on the Alaska Airlines status match.

Why Now Is the Perfect Time To Status Match

Usually, when you start your Alaska status match between January and June and complete the requirements, your status will be extended through the end of the calendar year.

However, when you start your status match between July and December and complete the requirements, your elite status will be extended through the entirety of the following year.

For instance, if you have Delta Gold Medallion status, you’ll receive a match to Atmos Gold status for 90 days. Within that 90-day period, you’ll need to earn 10,000 base points to extend your Atmos Gold status — or earn 20,000 base points to upgrade to Atmos Platinum status. Doing so will extend your Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards elite status all the way through December 31, 2027 — giving you nearly 18 months of elite status.

Hot Tip:

Since the Alaska status match is limited to once per lifetime of your account, the timing you choose is very important — not only so you can maximize the amount of time you’ll have the status but also to line it up with upcoming travel to maximize your chances of meeting the qualifying requirements.
