IHG One Rewards’ latest promotion allows members to purchase points with an 80% bonus, bringing the overall cost down to 0.56 cents per point.

Let’s take a look at the details of the promotion and how you can maximize it.

Buy IHG One Rewards Points With an 80% Bonus

Until June 8, 2024, this offer provides the opportunity to purchase IHG One Rewards points with an 80% bonus, which can bring the cost of each point down to just 0.56 cents. That’s nearly on par with our 0.5 cents per point valuation of IHG One Rewards points.

In order to find out which bonus you’re targeted for, you’ll want to log in to your account. It’s also possible to receive an increased cap on the number of points you can buy each year.

Depending on the offer you’re targeted for, you’ll need to buy at least 5,000 points to receive the 80% bonus. By purchasing fewer points without the bonus, you’ll pay roughly 1.35 cents apiece.

Here are the details you’ll want to be aware of:

  • With this promotion, you can purchase up to 250,000 points, up from the typical cap of 150,000. If you were to maximize this promotion, you could purchase a total of 450,000 points for $2,500.
  • Purchased points and any bonus points awarded under this offer do not count towards earning IHG One Rewards Elite status.
  • While the purchase limit (before any bonuses) has been raised to 250,000 points during the calendar year, any points purchased previously will count toward the 250,000-point cap. This means the number of points a member can purchase during the offer will depend on how many points have already been purchased during the same calendar year.
  • This offer is available through 11:59 p.m. ET on June 8, 2024.

Unfortunately, this deal does not stack with the 20% discount on point purchases offered with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card or the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, as those discounts only apply when there is no active buy bonus promotion.

Is This Promotion Worth It?

We value IHG One Rewards points at 0.5 cents per point, though you can certainly get more value than this if you redeem them strategically. If you have a plan for redeeming the points you’d purchase with this promotion, it could be well worth it.

The deal is especially worthwhile for those who hold one of the co-branded IHG One Rewards cards and have access to the fourth-night free perk. You’d only need to purchase enough points to cover 3 nights — boosting the value of your points by 25%!

Final Thoughts

As always, it usually only makes sense to buy points if you have a specific plan to use them. When it comes to purchasing IHG points, 0.56 cents apiece is nearly as good as it gets, so this is a great opportunity to top off your balance if you’ve been saving for a particular redemption.

For those interested, remember that you only have until June 8 to take advantage of the new 80% bonus.
