Qatar Airways has announced its return to Philadelphia (PHL). The Doha-based carrier will launch daily, year-round flights to the city this summer. The route will be served by the airline’s fleet of Airbus A350-900s equipped with Qsuite.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Qatar Airways Returns to Philadelphia

After a 3-year hiatus, Qatar Airways — the airline known mostly for its Qsuite business class product — will make its return to the largest city in Pennsylvania.

The news comes just days after American Airlines permanently axed its codeshare service from Philadelphia to Doha due to ongoing hostilities in the region.

Launching a new long-haul route at a time when jetfuel prices are soaring is no problem for state-owned Qatar Airways.

The route, starting on August 1, 2026, will operate with the following schedule:

Depart Doha (DOH) 8 a.m. — Arrive Philadelphia (PHL) 3:05 p.m.
Depart Philadelphia (PHL) 9:30 p.m. — Arrive Doha (DOH) 5 p.m.

Spanning over 6,200 miles, the journey from the U.S. to Doha will take over 12 hours, and the return leg can take up to 14.5 hours.

Even though the route will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, of which less than half of the fleet has Qsuite, Qatar is actively marketing the route as Qsuite-operated. This is great news for U.S. travelers headed to the Middle East or beyond who want to get the best business class experience possible when spending their hard-earned cash or points.

The addition of Philadelphia brings the total number of North American cities served by Qatar Airways to 14.

Booking Qatar Airways Flights From Philadelphia

At the time of writing, tickets on Qatar’s new route to Philadelphia are available to book directly with Qatar Airways. While price comparison site Skyscanner is also displaying the fares, they have yet to appear on Google Flights.

The chances are, you’d be flying to Doha to connect onto a second flight to, let’s say, Bangkok (BKK) in Thailand. A round-trip in economy from Philadelphia to Bangkok via Doha in August would cost almost $1,400.

In this case, Qatar’s new flights are $1,000 cheaper than alternative 2-stop options — unless you’d fancy a 50-hour schlep on Air Canada?
