Qatar Airways Privilege Club has announced the ability for you to redeem its Avios on JetBlue flights. This is a really exciting addition for Avios redemptions, as JetBlue flies one of the best transcontinental products of any airline. Here’s what you need to know.

Redeem Privilege Club Avios Towards JetBlue

Qatar Airways Privilege Club uses Avios as its standard frequent flyer currency. If that sounds familiar to you, it should, as Avios is also the currency of British Airways, Iberia, and several other airlines. While each airline operates its own independent “bucket” of Avios, you can transfer Avios freely between each loyalty program.

This means you can take British Airways Executive Club Avios, which are relatively easy to earn in the U.S. thanks to British Airways being a transfer partner of several major credit cards, and move those Avios into Qatar Airways Privilege Club.

Avios redemption rates are rather reasonable for a domestic U.S. flight and flights from the U.S. to Europe:

This means you can travel in JetBlue’s Mint class (business class) for 38,750 Avios one-way from cities like New York (JFK) or Boston (BOS) to Los Angeles (LAX) — a really great deal. If you’re looking to fly across the pond on one of JetBlue’s relatively new European routes, you’d be looking at around 62,000 Avios one-way in Mint or 20,750 in economy class.

Because you can transfer Avios from other airlines into Qatar, booking these awards should be pretty straightforward, although Qatar uses a bit of an outdated practice of putting the award on hold and then booking after, which could slow the process down a bit.

Hot Tip:

Keep an eye on transfer bonuses to British Airways, which happen quite often. You can easily transfer Avios from British Airways Executive Club to Qatar Airways Privilege Club, so it’s best to avail yourself of a transfer bonus if there is one.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue doesn’t have many partners where you can book JetBlue awards, and with the fall of the partnership with American Airlines, the redemption opportunities with Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios are very well-timed. Flight award prices are very reasonable, so you can travel in style across the country or to Europe for very few Avios!
