With the Renaissance New York Harlem opening, Marriott’s ever-growing portfolio in New York City has increased by one.

Here’s what you should know about the first full-service hotel in the neighborhood in over 100 years.

Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel Details

On November 16, 2023, Marriott announced the opening of its newest property, the Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel. The 211-key property is the tallest building north of Central Park in Manhattan and is located on the site of the historic Victoria Theater on 125th Street, steps away from the storied Apollo Theater.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel, a project that not only aims to revitalize the neighborhood but also honor the cultural legacy of the Harlem Renaissance,” said Lewiston Murray, General Manager, Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel. “Our vision is to create an inviting space for the community and guests alike to experience Harlem in its fullness through unexpected dining, celebratory beverage rituals, jazz performances, original artwork and more.”

Designers preserved the outer facade, marquee, outdoor ticket booth, and staircase of the original Victoria Theater, so the property is a landmark in and of itself. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, aptly named “The Victoria,” has an ornate marble bar, dramatic lounge seating, and a fifth-floor mezzanine that overlooks the entrance to the property.

Elsewhere, nightly jazz performances at the bar’s signature grand piano will be on offer, along with over 9,000 square feet of event space.

How to Book

The Renaissance New York Harlem is now open for guests and is participating in the Marriott Bonvoy programThat means you’ll be able to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points during your stay.

Award nights for stays in December 2023 start around 65,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for a standard king room, with cash rates hovering around $300 per night.

If you need to top up your account balance, you’re in luck, as it’s relatively easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. There are several Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards, all of which offer substantial welcome bonus offers.

Hot Tip:

You can also transfer points to Marriott Bonvoy via Chase Ultimate RewardsAmerican Express Membership Rewards, and Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

The newest Marriott property, a Renaissance in Harlem, is now open in New York City. The hotel is ideal for travelers looking to experience the local flair and multicultural enclave of Harlem, tucked away from the heart of the action in Upper Manhattan.
