Marriott has announced the opening of a swanky new Ritz-Carlton in the Southern Japanese city of Fukuoka.

Here’s what you need to know about the new hotel.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, is located on the top 9 floors of a 25-story tower. The hotel has 167 guest rooms and suites, including a 1,500-square-foot Presidential Suite and the 2,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Suite. Both feature a dining room and kitchen.

The hotel has 4 restaurants and 2 bars. Amenities include The Ritz-Carlton Spa, a pool, a 100-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Studio, and a 3,600-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Ballroom.

“Since we first debuted The Ritz-Carlton in Japan in 1997, the brand has been consistently recognized for its legendary luxury and service, beloved by locals and visitors to Japan alike,” said Tina Edmundson, President, Luxury for Marriott International. “We are excited to further strengthen our luxury positioning in the country by entering a new and emerging destination such as Fukuoka.”

The opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, marks the brand’s seventh hotel in Japan. The brand can also be found in Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo, among other destinations.

If you aren’t familiar with the Ritz-Carlton brand, it’s one of the most high-end in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio and one of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotel brands. The Ritz-Carlton is 1 of 3 “classic luxury” hotel brands overseen by Marriott International, the others being St. Regis Hotels & Resorts and JW Marriott Hotels. Today, you’ll find over 110 Ritz-Carlton hotels in 35 countries and territories.

How To Book

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, is now open for guests and is bookable with Marriott Bonvoy points.

Award nights are relatively reasonable. You’ll find award nights for as low as 62,000 Marriott Bonvoy points this fall and winter and stays starting at 65,000 this summer.

Marriott Bonvoy points are easy to earn, as well. Marriott offers several co-branded credit cards, all of which offer substantial welcome bonuses that you can use to earn Marriott Bonvoy points. You can then redeem Marriott points at hotels worldwide, including at the Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka.

Additionally, you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from several Chase credit cards and American Express Membership Rewards points earned from Amex credit cards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Ritz-Carlton is a well-established brand in Japan, and this new property should fit right into the country’s luxury hotel scene — not to mention its culture of impeccable service. For such a high-end brand, The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, is moderately priced when using Marriott Bonvoy points, so it should be at the top of your list if traveling to Japan!
