Some exciting news from Marriott: the chain has signed a deal for an all-new Ritz-Carlton Reserve property in Abu Dhabi.

Here’s what you need to know.

Marriott Plans Ritz-Carlton Reserve for Abu Dhabi

The Ritz-Carlton Reserve will have just 50 private villas ranging in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms. Some of them will be “floating” directly over the water. While details on the resort are scant for now, Marriott says it will offer a wide array of amenities and several restaurants.

Ramhan Island, which is currently under construction, will offer villas, luxury hotels, shopping, and dining. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve will be located on a “secluded island” within Rahman Island, Marriott says.

The resort is scheduled to open in 2029, though an exact opening date is unknown.

Marriott says the signing is an “important addition” to its UAE portfolio, where the demand for more luxury options is high.

“We look forward to bringing Ritz-Carlton Reserve to the UAE and offering intimate and transformative experiences in an ultra-luxury setting,” said Sandeep Walia, chief operating officer, Middle East, at Marriott.

Bottom Line:

Ritz-Carlton Reserve — not to be confused with The Ritz-Carlton — focuses on smaller resorts with an even greater emphasis on service culture. At this point, there are just 7 Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties open worldwide. They’re found in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

Booking Marriott Hotels in Abu Dhabi

We have a few more years until the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Abu Dhabi is open. But in the meantime, let’s check out Marriott’s other hotels across the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi is home to some of the chain’s flagship brands, such as EDITION, St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, and W. Like many cities in the Middle East, Abu Dhabi is a great place to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points. That’s because award redemptions — even at luxury hotels — can be extremely reasonable compared to destinations in the U.S. and Europe.

For instance, you can find rooms at the 5-star W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island starting at just 50,000 points per night this fall, which is an absolute steal.

And, it’s easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, even if you don’t frequent its hotels.

The chain offers several co-branded credit cards, through which you can earn welcome bonuses and then redeem points at hotels worldwide. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

It’s hardly a surprise that Ritz-Carlton Reserve is headed to Abu Dhabi, a destination known for glamour, opulence, and extreme wealth. It makes even more sense that the property will be located on a private island, which matches the brand’s mission to provide unforgettable stays in equally unforgettable locations.

While we don’t know all that much about the resort yet, it’s already shaping up to be one of Marriott’s best offerings in the region!
