Sam’s Club has debuted a last-minute Christmas offer that should grab the attention of Southwest flyers. Members can save over $70 on Southwest eGift Card purchases for a limited time.
$70+ Off a Southwest eGift Card
Sam’s Club members can now purchase a $500 Southwest eGift Card from Sam’s Club for $429.99. That’s a discount of over $70, or 14%, of the retail value. Members can purchase a maximum of 2 cards per membership, but only 3 gift cards can be applied per passenger per reservation.
The eGift Cards do not expire or carry fees and will be delivered via email within 48 hours of purchase. You can use the eGift Card for payment online at Southwest.com, by Southwest app, by phone (800-435-9792), or at the airport ticket counter. For step-by-step redemption instructions, check out our detailed guide on how to redeem a Southwest gift card.
While you can purchase flights with your eGift Card, you can also use it for taxes and fees associated with award tickets. Unfortunately, you cannot use it to pay for add-ons such as EarlyBird Check-In, Upgraded Boarding, or excess baggage fees.Hot Tip:
If you’re not a member, now might be the time to join Sam’s Club, starting at just $50 annually!
Best Cards To Use at Sam’s Club
You’ll want to use a card for this purchase that maximizes the rewards you’ll earn. Some of the best cards for shopping at Sam’s Club include:
- Chase Freedom Flex℠ — 5% cash-back at wholesale clubs in Q4
- Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards Credit Card — 3% cash-back for online purchases, including samsclub.com, when selecting online purchases as a quarterly bonus category
- Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express — 3% cash-back (on up to $6,000 in purchases) on U.S online purchases
As the Freedom Flex card Q4 bonus category maxes out at $1,500, you could purchase 4 Southwest eGift Cards worth $2,000 for $1,719.96 to earn 5% cash-back on the first $1,500 ($75 cash-back) and 1% cash-back on $219.96 ($2.19 cash-back).
If you were to pair the card with a premium Chase card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, your $77.19 cash-back could transfer to 7,719 Ultimate Rewards points, which are worth considerably more when transferred to one of Chase’s transfer partners (which includes Southwest!).
If a flight with Southwest is in your 2024 plans, picking up a few Southwest eGift Cards from Sam’s Club could make a lot of sense to save 14% on your airfare purchase. You’ll want to act fast as supplies may be limited! Being mindful of which credit card you use for your purchase can also ensure you receive the most value from your rewards.
